Field conditions at Ohio Stadium

wow i was gonna sell my grass from the michigan game
got 3 big chunks
i just layed it on the side of my house
didn't dig it down or properly place it or anything
and the grass rooted by itself.
gotta keep it now since OSU is switching to field turf
may be the last time OSU ever uses grass.
kinda sucks though because I will miss
running on the field after beating michigan sealing
another undefeated season getting a chunk of grass off the field
to take home for the memories

its not all bad considering there were probably over a hundred people with knives on the field after the michigan game cutting out squares. you could always cut out a piece of field turf with a knife.

To be honest, it would be easier to fix a natural grass field after that than artificial turf. 100 sharp pocket knives would do grave damage to an infilled turf field.!!!

yes it would haha but how cool it would be to have a piece of the s on turf, "planted" in the yard

Here's some new information, including field markings and such!

OSU turfnotes

Synthetic turf will be installed in the stadium in time for spring commencement on Sunday, June 10th. The color scheme and design for the new field surface is shown left: red endzones with white letters and a red "block O" in the center of the field.

Still no word on brand of turf or construction contractor...

it always looks cheesy on the draw up but i bet you will like it a lot more when you actually see it in real life. it will be like the endzones in the 02 championship game to an extent which i think will be nice.

ahh those endzones did look good.. as long as i've been around osu's endzones have been green with the only paint being the lettering.. im sure the red endzones will be fine and if not they'll grow on me reguardless

yea i know what you mean. i will be happy with it as long as its not some absurdly bright colored red that really sticks out in a bad way. keep it duller scarlet color like the championship grass.

letters are supposed to be white though. not sure how that will look. i would prefer gray but i guess we will see how it turns out.

And there we go again. WTF does the school have against gray? Why not just go Wisconsin and get it over with?

I have always thought the gray made the colors distinctive, it wasn't like red and white or blue and yellow, colors that get way overplayed. I really think a medium gray with the scarlet jerseys made OSU distinctive.

We have some design folks on board, why is gray getting less use?
