Columbus - Work crews are in the process of installing the new artificial turf at Ohio Stadium in preparation for the Sept. 1 opener against Youngstown State.

AP file photoAn up-close look at FieldTurf, which is being installed at Ohio Stadium.

FieldTurf is a mix of silica sand and rubber and a patented layering process that creates a field that emulates natural grass.

A different take on the new turf. Link

Somehow I know that while the field turf may present more vivid colors and more consistent games, it?s just not going to be the same. But that?s what is slightly off about us Buckeye fans, myself included. We throw fits about new uniforms, scold those who dare change our gameday routine, and lose sleep over grass?
