Field conditions at Ohio Stadium

I think that if they're going to make one endzone scarlet, the other should have been gray.

yea i think that would look nice as well. having the scarlet O in the middle of the field might make it look a little lopsided though. also you would have to have an inverse color switch of either scarlet lettering or scarlet lettering with white trim which is kinda throwing off the endzones. AS LONG AS they keep the gray outlines in the white lettering i think scarlet endzones will be great because you will have white lettering to give a distinct appearances and then a gray outline to fit the scarlet/gray theme and it blends it with the whole bright color, dull color, neutral color order. i sound like a god damn employee at sherman williams.

Personally, I think the grey on scarlet is a bit too dark/bland for the endzones. This is what I'd do if I were designing the field:

note: I'd extend the gray a bit farther out, both for design and so we can stop playing with fire when the players slip on the red (track) surface.

i'm confused. what do you want to do? and how are the players going to slip on the red surface?

Notice the grey turf surrounding the field, instead of green?

The players slip on the red "track" surrounding the field way too often.

I've been told it's more like painted concrete than track surface, but I forget who told me that so I might be totally wrong. Regardless it is way too close to the field. Since they are going to turf they should have torn that out and replaced the whole thing with turf. That's what my school did and it made the stadium much nicer.

You can really see the two-tone look here:

It's been mentioned on here before that it's probably just a function of which way the grain is lying right now. Once they brush it out, it will be more uniform. Like when you get new carpet and they have to put in a seam, you see it at first but eventually it blends.
