Fan Behavior and KH's Apology (Merged all)

If I go to Austin and I hear "WHat's a Buckeye? Just a nut?" You wont see me on Horn Fans asking for an apology. If I hear, "FUck you you Ohio State faggot." I wont care. I could give a fuck.

Well, if you're going to be a good sport about it, then FUCK YOU, YOU OHIO STATE FAGGOT!!!!!!:) (From the comfort of my PC at home, kind of like being 150 lbs. dripping wet and having 20 similar buddies behind you)...

The bottom line is, there are rednecks everywhere, whether you call them 'hillibillies', 'white trash', or 'Uppers'. The difference between here and there is that we keep ours more under control on gamedays....

That is easy to say. Of course your vantage point sees it that way.

This is a dead issue. Nobody is happy that these incidents happened...however, nobody needs to be constantly reminded of your opinions of your Columbus experience. Its over...let's move on.

Great point Cinci. This behavior could well bring an endo to night games in the Shoe.

Location is a very big part of it. East of High was a jungle and is where I saw most of the worst incidents. I generally stay off Lane 'Street'. Problem is that visiting fans don't know where the 'hot zones' are.

Ultimately what will or will not trigger a reaction from tOSU is not what happened, but the noise level that reaches Hollbrook.

Well next time we'd better do a better job of spreading the word to visiting fans about those hot zones. Its not all about keeping long cool ones out of the hands of young adults. Sometimes it helps to have the right routing.

what kind of homos go to a sporting event 2000 miles away then come back and complain about the fans in a letter to the editor? I'm sorry, but when I went down to NCSU and received some heckling and verbal abuse, I didn't write any letters to the Dispatch, I didn't look up the address of the major paper in Raleigh, and I sure as hell didn't look for pity on UNC and Duke message boards. People need to get a life.

ive heard so much from texas fans lately im about sick of it..have you been to the texas forums?? hornfans.com is about the worst site in the world..its basically a big trash talk session about the buckeye community..everyone complaining about the horns down, and the fuck texas chants and all the other talk that they got the whole weekend..

i do understand there are plenty of texas fans that have been positive about the whole weekend, but the majority of the posts i have read have been complaining..

What bar were you at when the bouncer told you that texas mom? Were you at flyers? maybe mean mr. Mustards. or maybe it was papa joe's. Just wondering which once you were at.

I was not asking for an apology. I just think that OSU fans should be aware of what others think of their fans. I would not be happy if I heard that Texas fans were behaving that way. It was more than a few fans. I do not think that anyone's weekend is completely ruined by their behavior.

Even in the bars on Lane and High, several bouncers commented to us that the OSU students were out of control. I agree fans should have a thick skin about all of the yelling but it is ridiculous to have to put up with that crap.

I was just glad that I left my kids at home. The OSU fans did not care if little ones were around. So what is next, saying kids should not come to the game if they can not have a "thick skin".

Holbrook Apologizes For Behavior Of Buckeye Faithful
Longhorn Fans Complain Of Rude Behavior

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State officials are apologizing for the behavior of Buckeye fans during last Saturday's battle against Texas.

According to The Austin American Statesman, OSU received about 24 complaints from Texas fans about the behavior of some Buckeye faithful.

Through e-mails to university officials, Texas Longhorn fans described being harassed before, during and after the game, NBC 4's John Ivanic reported.

OSU President Dr. Karen Holbrook responded to an e-mail complaint:

"I will personally apologize for the poor treatment you received. We have been working very hard to change a culture from one that is disrespectful to one that is welcoming. Obviously, there is still much work to do."

In a forum on the Stateman's Web site, Texas fans vented their frustration. One person wrote:

"A few very gracious fans welcomed us and gave directions. Unfortunately, they were the minority. Animal House was filmed somewhere on their campus."

Another wrote:

"I feel confident in saying that no fans in America showed as little class as the OSU thugs I encountered this past Saturday."

Excerpts from e-mails to Holbrook said the beauty of the game ended when fans left Ohio Stadium.

"The filthy verbal abuse was in your face if you had Texas attire on. Full beer bottles were thrown at us with glass breaking all around us."

Another concerned Longhorn fan wrote:

"We did not see rudeness as just a few. We saw it as something more systemic, something extreme and somewhat frightening."

However, not all Texas fans had a negative experience last Saturday. Another Texas fan had a different take:

"I would just like to say that we had a great time in Columbus. We were treated with respect almost all the time."

Another fan wrote:

"My group had a great experience and found the Buckeye fans to be good people and good fans. From my experience, I don't see any need for an apology."

Still, others challenged Texas fans to turn the other cheek and roll out the red carpet when OSU plays Texas in Austin next year.

As an OSU alum I want an apology for allowing Nick Simpson and Desmond Howard to sing "Hail to the Sphincters" on top of the Shoe.

That is what you should be apologizing for and to supporters of the university (Yeah, I give money) before visitors!
