Don't worry, they are releasing new DLC soon.

Fuck yeah :banger:

IGN: Not to spoil the end of Fallout 3, but extending the story in the Broken Steel download might be a bit tricky. Will the main character still continue through for that storyline? Will he or she be usable in the other downloads?

Gardiner
: Based on a lot of feedback, we're going to allow the player to continue on after the main quest ends in the Broken Steel DLC. While a lot of details still have to be sorted, this will allow the player to continue on and play in the Wasteland enjoying the side and freeform quests, along with any new downloadable content we have planned in the future.

One of the things that irritated me was that the game ended with so much to explore. If a player just followed the story line, they could finish the game in about 6 hours and never understand how much detail was put into the map. Not only that, you got a lot of good shit at the end of the game, and a lot of times it was too late to turn back, with the Enclave everywhere, and certain areas essentially closed off. I am glad they are going this route and later letting people resume to go and explore around.

There was a lot of stuff you could do later, repeatable quests, finding unique weapons and armor, and experimenting with the different NPC's that could join your party (Tho just getting fawks seems to mean you win.)

Ran into a bit of a bug/problem here.

I'm in the town of Little Lamplight, on the quest "Picking up the Trail", and I'm trying to get to Vault 87. However, there is no way for me to open the gate to Murders Trail or whatever, it just says "you can't do this now". I keep talking to the Mayor but there's no line for me to ask him to open that gate for me. I found a computer terminal but it says there is no power and that I need a key to get into the door. So, basically, I'm stuck.

You should be getting another quest, yo. The mayor is supposed to give you a quest to save a few kids from Paradise Falls, only then will he open the gate.
Alternatively, if you have the "Child at Heart" perk, you may be able to talk your way into Little Lamplight, MacCready is pretty tough though, and not easily conned otherwise.

Question: Did you become a slaver? It IS possible to get in even if you are a slaver, I'm just curious. You may see if you have any other quests, you may have one labeled as "Escape from Paradise." If the quest isn't there, and you can't get the quest from MacCready when you walk up to the gate, I'm not sure. Haven't run into this bug, reloading from a past save may be the only option (I stree many and multiple saves, at least 2 new saves an hour :) )

Go talk to the mayor, tell him you want to go down murder pass and he'll go open it for you, I went through the game 3 times and all times it worked.

Also, you may need to go execute everyone in paradise falls and let the kids out, I had the child at heart perk so I just managed to roll on through most of little lamplight, even got the free wazer wifle.

Hmm.. Yeah I am using the Child at Heart perk and they never directly opened the gate. I did the quest with that kid who wanted to go to Bigtown, where I then rescued the people that were captured by the super mutants.

I'll hop on again later and see if they'll allow me in now. Thanks for responding, I'll let you know if I get through.

edit: No, I'm not a slaver. I'm playing as a "good" guy this time. I may have to try an old reload.

I think you need to do the quest to release the kids from paradise falls. The best way, just go fucking kill everyone, but I believe you can also buy the kids off of Eulogy or pick pocket the key, release them and distract, not sure on the other two methods, it's a fun firefight to take out that place.

Finally got to play some XBox this week, and I made it into Murders Pass. I just had to go back and talk to the Mayor again and choose some other speaking options. :banger:

If you are aligned good, when you finish up with that quest, keep fawkes and explore the map, she's bad ass, I mini nuked her ass twice and she lived (at level 20) , so she's perfect for collecting those books and bobbleheads.

I actually went ahead and beat the game. I didn't realize you couldn't keep playing after beating the last mission. Luckily, I saved before heading off with Liberty Prime. I'll go back and do the other missions with Fawkes since I have so much more to explore.

To this point, I have only seen one Deathclaw.
