So, I have been playing and modding on the pc version, it's a lot less stable than the 360 version which crashed once in a while, seems like the PC version crashes about every hour, I am going to try and set my watch by it. The Geck is pretty easy to use, texturing is kind of a pain in the ass, there's a few cool mods out there, but for the most part I have come to learn that gamers want the women naked and the children killed.

Oblivion for PC has some fucking awesome mods on it, give it a shot. I know, you already played it, but trust me.. it's only $20. Or free if you want to be a pirate.

Is the Fallout modding community decent though? I thought about picking it up for PC.

Check out falloutnexus.com they have a list of mods, a few thousand of them are out, just like oblivion someone did a full overhaul of the game, added new weapons, balanced out some of the stuff, fixed some of the huge issues with the game, called FOOK (Fallout Overhaul kit)

Same community, so yeah, they have gone pretty crazy with the mods.

It's worth mentioning that the very first patch to come out was the kill children patch, it beat one of the now many nude patches by a day :p

What kind of computer are you running(cpu/graphics card)? I read somewhere that if you have codec pack's installed (k-lite, divxx) it interferes with the sound and causes the game to crash. Also, check to make sure your video card drivers are updated.

Anyone know when Broken Steel is going to come out? I'm waiting to finish exploring and I have about 100 fingers I need to turn in so that I can level up a little easier.

Kotaku - Fallout 3's Delivers Puppies! on May 5 - Broken Steel
:groove2::banger::groove2::banger:
Broken Steel, the third downloadable episode for the PC and Xbox 360 version of Fallout 3, will raise the game's level cap to 30 and remove the games ending on May 5, Bethesda announced this week. Broken Steel will sell for 800 points and will include an entire new area outside of Fallout 3's wasteland based on Andrews Air Force Base. The new DLC will also include more weapons, enemies and perks, including one that can bring back your dog when he's killed.
Broken Steel is the third of the three downloadable episodes Bethesda has been talking about for Fallout 3. The new content kicks off at the end of the game, changing away the original title ends and extending it perpetually. Once Broken Steel is downloaded Fallout 3 has no ending, Hines said.
"Broken steel doesn't have an ending," he said. "There are no more endings, we got the message."
The game also slightly tweaks the moments leading up to the ending, adding the ability to send one of several of your companions to complete the final task of the game, instead of doing it yourself.
The new content starts about two weeks after the events of Fallout 3's main quest, opening up in the Capital Wasteland by Project Purity, which is now up and running.
"Broken Steel takes into account what you did in Fallout 3 and what the world is like now," Hines said.
In Broken Steel the battle between the Brotherhood of Steel and the Enclave still rages and you are tasked with discovering and helping to build a Tesla Canon, a new, more powerful weapon for the Brotherhood.
As with the original Fallout 3 storyline, there are also a number of side quests in Broken Steel, most of which have to do with escorting freshly processed clean water across the wasteland and protecting it from raiders.
"You can get a number of different quests from a scribe, which has nothing to do with the main story," Hines said. "It adds some free-form miscellaneous quests you can do in the game."
The main quest sends you to an old power plat to find the parts for the Tesla Canon.
The new area is packed with new enemies, including a super mutant overlord, a feral ghoul reaver and an Enclave hellfire trooper; new weapons, like the Tesla Canon and a projectile flame thrower; new achievements and even new perks. Hines only detailed one of the perks though, called Puppies! If you pick the Puppies! Perk when Dogmeat dies he gets reincarnated automatically as a puppy, which you can go to certain areas to add back to your group.
The new pack also raises the level cap from 20 to 30 and greatly increases the enemy difficulty level.
"Enemies are a lot tougher," Hines said. "You start seeing new enemies at level 18.
"Advancement from 20 to 30 takes a ton of experience points."
Completing the main quest in Broken Steel will also require a bit of puzzle solving, Hines said. After you've get all of the parts for the new weapon, you take it trough the Presidential Metro Line to pull off an attack on the Enclave base.
One you cear out the Presidential Metro Line you get to make your way to Adams Airforce Base where you will be given new orders, Hines said.
"Adams Air Force Base is a new world space," he said. "You sort of leave the Wastelands and go to Adams Air Force Base, it's a pretty big space."
Hines says that the main quest for Broken Steel is a bit longer than The Pitt downloadable content, coming in at about four to five hours of gameplay, and that it also adds a bunch of sidequests which each take 30 minutes to an hour to complete.
The side quests, he said, have you going all over the world and give you a chance to see how it's changed since the end of the original Fallout 3.
The one thing that Broken Steel won't beef up are the collectibles, Hines said.

I patched it with the latest patch and it's a lot more stable. Also, turning off autosave helped, though that's backfired a few times, sure it doesn't crash but the sudden realization of how much I had done before I died has made me want to kick a cripple.

Went through the Pitt last night, fuck Ingots, but otherwise, it was a lot of fun. Interesting story, I am going to make a run through it and help the slavers tonight, the dialogue for the slavers was more like it should have been for the good guys, and the actions and dialogue for the slaves was more evil than I would have expected. I would say it was worth 10 bucks, a lot better than Operation Anchorage.

I turned my autosaves off as well. I was playing through Operation Anchorage and got all the way to the end and the game froze....... Haven't been back to that part of the game since.

I downloaded it and can't get to freaking Pitt yet. I think I screwed up and killed the slavers (hey, my character is evil so I talked smack to them). I then just killed the slaves in the pen and took a slave outfit. The other dude shows up, I talk to him, etc. Then I go to where the Pitt entrance is, and guys attack me. So I run into the entrance. I see a handcart, and it tells me I can't go to the Pitt. So I exit, everyone is gone, and I can't get to the Pitt. Sonofabitch. I will now have to go back to a quick save point and do it over because autosave kicked in when I entered the tunnel to the Pitt.

BTW...most mods are inherently instable. Most of them are a use at your own risk type of thing. With that said, I have had a couple of crashes in the non modded games. There are also some bugs that are annoying, including my Pitt issues (of course those are probably in all versions).

Well, finished the Pitt. Not bad. I suppose it was worth about $10 for 4 hours of gameplay. Nice little break in my 2nd round through the game being evil this time. It also helped me level up a lot without having to run through some of the boring missions in the first one.

Of course there are things in the Pitt that annoyed me a little. You can tell the detail is not the same. Yet pretty good.

BTW...in case anyone was wondering, the next Fallout is based in Las Vegas (actually called New Vegas). Makes me wonder if they will use the same timeframe as the original. New Vegas was just off the map in the first one, and there were references to it. It would be nice to see that. Plus I think they are picking Vegas to add more color to the game (what some people complain about), but still keep the gritty nature of the game. Yet it will be done by Obsidian, not Bethesda. Obsidian does the Neverwinter Nights games, and did Knights of the Old Republic II. The only one I played was KOTOR II, and that was kind of meh. Certainly not on the same level as Bethesda, but the team at Obsidian does include main members from the development team from Fallout 2 and the canceled Fallout 3 at Black Isle Studios.

I experienced a lot of crashes with the PC version of Fallout 3. Some of it was fixed with the patch they released, not all crashes though. The biggest problem I was having was the game freezing up during VATS mode, couldn't do anything, but most of those problems were fixed. I imagine all freezes will get ironed out eventually.

As far as mods, I love them. I haven't downloaded any in awhile, but I haven't had time lately either. Some buddies and I have been playing an MMO, which sucks up entirely too much time, I miss Fallout. My favorite mod was the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly sound mod. Replaced all of the non-Radio music with music from the movie, it was excellent to use when slaughtering in the Wasteland.

Good to hear about Dogmeat...but I'm a bit disappointed with that Puppies perk. While I love Dogmeat, I was hoping the Puppies perk would bring a free silicone enhancement to all the ladies of the Wasteland
