I experienced a lot of crashes with the PC version of Fallout 3. Some of it was fixed with the patch they released, not all crashes though. The biggest problem I was having was the game freezing up during VATS mode, couldn't do anything, but most of those problems were fixed. I imagine all freezes will get ironed out eventually.

As far as mods, I love them. I haven't downloaded any in awhile, but I haven't had time lately either. Some buddies and I have been playing an MMO, which sucks up entirely too much time, I miss Fallout. My favorite mod was the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly sound mod. Replaced all of the non-Radio music with music from the movie, it was excellent to use when slaughtering in the Wasteland.

Good to hear about Dogmeat...but I'm a bit disappointed with that Puppies perk. While I love Dogmeat, I was hoping the Puppies perk would bring a free silicone enhancement to all the ladies of the Wasteland

Yeah, even now I get crashes about once every 2-3 hours. I installed a few minor textures that might be really pissing off my system. (Simple things like books, nuka cola bottles, etc...) I am going to apply the unofficial patch and fook and see if that stabilizes some things. I read up and there's no reported issue with my video card, in fact it's on the recommended list.

There's some great mods in the works, the real issue I have seen from people who have large projects is getting the voices done. I was reading on the forums where people are in the process of whole new areas, maps, monsters, etc... Will be interesting to see if some or any of them actually make it out, since that scale of a project usually bores people before they finish.

So, I installed this group of mods that really changed the dymanic of this game and has made for a lot of fun scenarios:

Fook (FallOut Overhaul Kit) Which adds a ton of items, weapons, new textures and balances out some of the game. Making it so where miniguns and heavy weapons are usable, and reducing the effectiveness of VATS with smaller weapons.

Marts Mutant Mod - Adds a few new monsters to the game, comes with some nice addons for increased number of spawns at locations as well as fun stuff like the feral ghoul rampage, when you are in the tunnels feral ghouls, everywhere.

Enclave Commander - This allows you to command troups, so you can call in backup, order air strikes, order forces to strike a location before you get there, etc...

Turned the Difficulty up to Super Hard and bam, the whole game got a billion times more intense. The option of sneaking around with the Sniper rifle became much less viable, more attack force. Places like downtown DC are intense with rockets flying everywhere, shots from all sides and the increase in difficulty means the monsters have a lot more HP.

Now it generally has a warlike feel to it, when you're traveling the wastes you see a deathclaw and just decide to shoot, not realizing it has 4 friends, and it's on. I did downtown DC with the increased increased spawns, and it was super mutants everywhere. I took 9 troops and still got obliterated. Fun stuff.

All the mods are on falloutnexus.com if you want to give it a try.

I just added on FOOK as well. Great mod. I liked the retextured part of it with how food (more modern day skins), cigs(marlboro boxes) and how some of the weapons were redone. Trying to figure out where all of my other guns went after the mod was installed kinda threw me for loop, until I realized they changed the names of them................................DUH!

Waited for all of the expansions to come out to beat this game. Just did last night. Pretty great game. Working on the Pitt add-on now. Pretty easy and not too interesting so far.

I enjoyed the Pitt, I haven't done Broken Steel yet, been doing other stuff, I paid for it, I have it downloaded, sooner or later. The only annoying thing about the Pitt was finding the 100 ingots, that got so frustrating.

Well, you don't have to find them all. It just gets you tribal power armor.

I'm not too far into it. Let's just say the last thing I did was kill a woman.

Yeah, the whole kidnapping thing is weird, it's hard to say you're doing the right thing when you punk someones baby and shoot the mother in the face.

I never understood this part of the game either. I walked around for a while and was thinking to myself is killing the mother considered the right thing to do in this part?

Yeah, the dialogue doesn't help either, It seems to try and push you towards the slavers. I still need to go through and help the slavers, I may do that when I do broken steel.

Yeah. I have a good guy. I want to help the slaves, and I am, but kidnapping a child and killing the mother is definitely not "good" in any situation. She seemed nice, too. :shake:

Neither choice is good or bad. In fact, siding against the slaves could actually be considered good. Siding with the slaves just makes things a little tougher.
