Right here.gbearbuck said:Ex,
Where are you?
Well, nationwide, they are the Hawaii Warriors.Buckeye69 said:I'll "root" for the "Rainbows." But, I can't "pull" for them. Seriously, a name change is probably the best thing for them to do other than beat scUM. (And I use the term "beat" loosely).
No, they were the Rainbows, and changed their name to the "Warriors." The whole "Native American" fiasco doesn't really apply to Hawaii because, while there were indiginous peoples in Hawaii before the Haoles came in, and they do still want their sovereignty, it's not "Native Americans" that have the problem. It's not like their logo features an indian of any sort. The "Warriors" Hawaii is referring to are the island natives. They see it a different way.Sloopy45 said:Ex-Dub: "Well, nationwide, they are the Hawaii Warriors."
I think (but don't quote me on this), that they were the Warriors, but changed the nickname to the Rainbows because of the, "Native American disrespect in sports names" fiasco. Their logo used to be an Indian with a spear or something, and that's why its been changed.
Again, don't quote me, I could be wrong on this (Mili might know), but I think that's the case.
