Ex-Wolverine BS (all merged - including the tearful goodbyes)

I don't know anything about any dog house, but...

I think your perception has more to do with what the rivalry means to most OSU fans. I can speak for myself in saying I agree with you, I will watch the Sun Belt game of the week on Thursday night, just because I love the game and love to see the competition. But the OSU/Michigan has become entirely different even than it used to be, from what I can see. Correct or not, a lot of people grew to believe John Cooper couldn't beat scUM no matter what, so a lot of fams actually began to dread the game, feeling like the outcome was WWE-esquely predetermined. Now,with JT, everyone feels like we have a shot at them every year, and can't wait to take the next one, because more people are convinced JT will have a winning record against scUM when it is all said and done. Cooper has even admitted he began trying to treat it as "just another game" to beat the bad psychology...JT began his tenure with a prediction (of sorts) before he ever took the field. I think THAT'S why you are getting the vibe you are...not because everyone doesn't care about the other games.

It's simple "Ex"

The CFB season in Columbus, Ohio is simply a "means to an end."

"THE GAME" is our Olympics, Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals, Stanley Cup, all wrapped up into one November saturday afternoon. You should know by now how huge it really is. I'll guarantee you that EVERY Buckeye fan on this site is still pissed as hell over last years loss. The Fiesta Bowl win was nice, but it didn't soothe the bitterness of losing to "them."

So would you rather have five straight National Championships, or five straight wins over UM? (assuming that the five NC's would come after losses to UM...hypothetically speaking, of course)

At the top of your screen, you will see a message that reads "The Buckeyes are 2-0, and there are only 65 days until we play scUM."

It says "The #9 Buckeyes are 2-0, and there are only 65 days until we play scUM." :wink2:

I think when it comes down to it, there is a lot of bitterness over not only last years loss, but so many from the Cooper Era, that many of us can't wait until we get another chance to play that team up north... Has nothing to do with wishing our current days away, just there is a lot of payback in at least my mind.

You don't get the point. The rivalry with Michigan was built not only out of a mutual border, but out of the fact that this game means so much to the national championship. We know that nearly every year, one team goes in with National Championship or Big Ten Championship implications. This game isn't important because we don't like their uniforms (they suck), their stadium (it's a crap hole), their fight song (makes my ears bleed), or their fans (arrogant pricks)...We hate scUM because they are what stand between us and so many National Titles. We can't wait to play them, because that is when we are truly tested and get to see what kind of team we are. Would I rather be 9-2 and beat scUM or 10-1 and lose to them? Heck yeah! Mostly for revenge of past dissapointments...but our greatness as a team is not mutually exclusive of beating the team up north...our greatness is often ACHEIVED by beating them.

The Game will get here. I just want to enjoy the ride along the way. I wish, like the NFL, we played 16 games. The season just goes by too fast, and it's a long, long wait until next season.

Give me the 5 championships !!!!

:oh: :io:

Ex: "I don't get this mentality. Yes, I am very much looking forward to the OSU-UM game. I think I have more vested in it than most of you do,"

You're over analyzing things. And if you think you have "more vested" in THE game than most of us do, you're mistaken. I don't care what you're current or former allegiances are, most people on this site bleed, sleep, sweat, think, drink, and live Buckeye football, and have for many years.

Dubs: "I'll guarantee you that EVERY Buckeye fan on this site is still pissed as hell over last years loss."

Hell, we could be coming off a 20 game win streak over "them" and I'd still want to beat the piss out of "them" with the same intensity. I hate that F***ing school so much that I'm numb to the losses. It doesn't matter if we win, lose, or draw, I can't stand that school more and more each day.

I live by that concept as much as possible, and I apply it to football as well. All spring and summer, I was just dying for some college football, and I would have settled for Louisiana Tech vs. Idaho. I am going to enjoy every game this season.
so you were wishing away the days till the college football season

big ups to oilerbuck.....thats a kool custom icon you got there bud.

That expresses my feelings about them to a "T". Everytime I go into the local Wally World and see the shit for that school hanging on the racks beside the OSU things I want to scream. I've told the manager that if people in this town want to buy and wear that shit then tell them to drive north and buy it. Don't be insulting OSU by putting that shit anywhere close to it. I hate scUM. Always have, always will.
