Last week, Janelle and I went up to Minnesota to help her sister move in (she's a freshman at Minnesota) and catch the Toledo-Minnesota game. The Golden Weasel fans were taunting the Toledo alumni pretty heavily, so I taunted them back.
Honestly, I was offended that they were being so mean to the Toledo alumni. There were maybe 40 Toledo alumni, and they were all sitting in the same section. There was plenty of room in the stadium, and it's not like Toledo and Minnesota have any sort of rivalry. Minnesota was putting it to Toledo on the field, so I really don't see the point of taunting Toledo, but these asswipes did.
Anyway, I taunted these drunken fools, and they would all scream back. There was a row of maybe 17 or 18 of them, drunk as they could be, who moved from another part of the stadium just to taunt the Toledo fans and ruin their good time. When they would scream back at me, I would just watch the game, which apparently pissed them off even more.
Halfway through the second quarter, one of these shitheads decided it would be a good idea to scream "TOLEDO SUCKS" right in my face, and then spit on Janelle, as he went to go get another beer.
I didn't realize he had spit on her until he was already down on the concourse, when Janelle started crying and asking me why he did that to her.
Obviously, I wanted blood, and I wasn't the least bit afraid of this dude or his 17 friends. Maybe the UT fans would have backed me, maybe not. I have a temper and I get violent when someone crosses me. It takes a hell of a lot to get that temper to come out, usually someone has to punch me in the face. But come to find out, spitting on my girl is enough to bring that out in me.
Anyway, I took Janelle down to the ladies room to go clean herself up, and I told her I was going to find that guy and send him home on a stretcher. Janelle told me that if I hit the guy, I would be looking for a new girlfriend and just to let it go.
We compromised, we had the cops escort this worthless pukes out. I wish she had let me handle things my way, but I respect and love her too much to risk losing her over something like this.
So I made a promise to her that I wouldn't ever taunt anyone at a game again. I told her I would just watch a game and cheer for my team. That's going to be tough for me, but whatever.
So basically, I just want to find a place where I can watch the games...maybe throw my hands up and cheer when my teams score (won't be a problem when OSU scores...might be a problem when UM scores, because they are playing Notre Dame, so they should score 10 or 11 times today....) and have that be that.
BTW - Yes, I am a UM alum, but this isn't about cheering for UM. It's about cheering AGAINST Notre Dame. I don't give two shits about UM, but I HATE Notre Dame. When ND plays USC, I would give anything to see them BOTH lose.
