ESPN College Gameday (official thread)

Well they heard it all week leading up to the Minny game from all kinds of people and well 38-7 speaks for itself. People LOVE to prove other people wrong and sometimes criticism from the media is fuel to the fire...

Sometimes, enough is enough...especially from one of "your own".

Just because you agree with Herbie doesn't make what he did o.k.

Criticism =/= personal insults

You're defending the wrong one.

I tune in a few minutes before the games start to see the predictions. I find them humorous sometimes.

Aside from that, it's a bunch of bullshit and I'm not sure why people watch it.

It used to be good, back when it was just Chris, Lee and Herbie talking football. I still think Chris has good analysis, but you notice that he rarely makes predictions or gives negative critiques. It's their job to hype up games and stir up controversy. I don't take it seriously. I doubt our O-Line is going to have hurt feelings over it.

Yeah, I used to enjoy it. It's just too much now. It's more for show than for football.

That's what everyone should expect from ESPN. It's an entertainment network about sports, not an educational network about sports. Controversy is entertaining. We're talking about it, so they must be doing something right.

No that's mainly going to be the fans who are spouting as much hyperbole about Herbie as he did about the Offensive line and what he said about offensive recruits in 2004.

It's not criticism, it's bashing 19, 20 years old kids and a coach who has done a hell of a lot ...
News flash. ESPN makes a living out of bashing (and, alternatively, building up) 19 and 20 year old kids. So do the newspapers and pretty much all other Internet, print and broadcast media. Kids who do not wish to be subjected to this kind of crap always have the option of playing at D2 or D3 level, where nobody cares enough to throw stones.

Not excusing the behavior, but none of us here can do FA to change it.

College Gameday adds 3rd hour

ESPN College GameDay to add third hour, Erin Andrews as anchor - ESPN
ESPN's "College GameDay" is expanding to three hours for the coming season, providing an extra hour of college football analysis, news and features every Saturday during the season, beginning Sept. 4.

ESPNU will televise the new first hour of the show, originating from the site of the day's best game or the game with the most compelling storyline, beginning at 9 a.m. ET. From 10 a.m. to noon, GameDay will continue to air on ESPN.

Erin Andrews will join the "College GameDay" lineup, anchoring several segments during the first hour on ESPNU and contributing reports, interviews and features during the ESPN portion of the show. The three-hour show, entering its 24th season, will continue to feature host Chris Fowler with analysts Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard.

At least we get to see sideline princess now.

Gotta think this was part of Erin's new contract agreement to get her:
a) more air time and exposure
b) prime time games. Last year, she was doing a few dud games like Rutgers home games. This will at least give her the game where College Gameday is.

I like gameday. Especially early in the season when you could have Betty White up there talking football and I'd still eat it up.
