ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

Yeah, the fact that Mizzou and Aggie are amongst the top SEC teams proves the SEC ain't all they're cracked up to be.

That was my point

they style of play in the SEC is shifting.
the conference as a whole can no longer be viewed as a physical running conference that plays tough defense.

with that shift, the top teams are no longer as dominant as they once were.
and the bottom half are no longer as shitty as they once were.

the whole conference is moving toward what was once the middle of the pack.
so there will be a lot of parity in the SEC if the trend continues.

in short, we're becoming what the Big XII is known for.
and no that is not a compliment to the conference.

we'll still get the media love for our "name brand" schools even when they don't deserve it.
but we're gonna start seeing a lot more surprising upsets like what Iowa St. did to Okie State in '11 because this style of play allows for that to happen much more frequently than our traditional style of play.

I am as guilty as the next guy of playing them up as traditionally many of those teams have been great. But it's time to take a look at the actual games and call it what it is. Florida just got run by Vandy. Vandy?!?!?

Too bad Vandy backed out of our game...assuming OSU would have won it would have looked pretty good on our resume....

That perception would be a bit different if Georgia and Florida hadn't been decimated by injuries though. Every team loses guys, but what those two programs are going through is extreme. Florida has at least 8 players out for the season and 15 of the starting 22 have missed time, while Georgia has 24 players out or limited in practice last I read.
Yeah, and the only game so far in which NW had both QB's and their RB was tOSU.

I'm not saying it's equally debilitating, but the pollsters seem to take it into account when FLA or GA are missing people, but NW is just way overrated after losing key starters. Actually, I think there's an argument to be made that while the SEC teams lost more people, NW's injuries are harder to take. UGA and UF go three deep with five star recruits at many positions, while NW loses a starter and ends up with a player that may find it difficult to walk on at a perennial power

Edit: "More hard"? Harder. :shake:

Herby is crying on twitter about Buckeye fans.. lol JFC.

Yeah, that is posted all over 11W this morning. Evidently he doesn't have anything better to do with his Sunday afternoon than cherry pick twitter comments and get into arguments that, on both sides, have all the maturity and logical reasoning of arguments between two third graders on the playground. The funny part is that Herbie probably thinks engaging in such arguments further supports his claim that the big, bad Buckeye fans ran him out of Columbus and down to Nashville.

lol, Herbie mad

Kirk Herbstreit ‏@KirkHerbstreit17h
@BuckeyeSioux: Why does every SEC team get to ride the coattails of what Bama, Florida and LSU has done?” Umm..cause they're good?!

Kirk Herbstreit ‏@KirkHerbstreit17h
@OSUDefender @BuckeyeSioux haha!!! You realize EVERY conference pays ESPN?!?! What a joke. You have no clue.

you'd think he'd be a little bit more professional in that 2nd tweet

Maybe he was "tired" or something. 16 hours ago....probably time to shack up with some skank on the road to go bed.

I honestly can't comprehend how anyone would defend him using the "objective" bs at this point.
ESPN is chock full of homers, and nobody says anything about it.
Moreover, his statements as they relate to Ohio State or the Big10 have never been "objective" to begin with.
Spielman, Galloway, George, Smith ... all capable of being professional and objective broadcasters w/o needing to bash Ohio State to "make up for it."

People don't like Herbstreit b/c he's full of malarkey and a very willing participant in ESPiN's "create the controversy" policy over the past 10 years.
