ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

FYI - it's 9:27 Central and ESPN just offered a 'college football fix in 3 minutes' to all the rules violations and issues in College Football today.

Piece of cake! Death penalty for OSU, since they are the only ones committing any violations.

Mark May looked like a kid sitting at the grown folks table with no clue on what was going on. Saban shut his azz up with basically "STFU about a plus one game. Too many games, dumbazz. This ain't the NFL, stupid."

LOL

In no way sticking up for May, but any of those coaches whining about a +1 sceanrio being too many games are the ones that are dumbasses. Division II-a, II, and III have had 16-team playoffs for decades (meaning team play up to 15 games, if they make the title game) so it's not an issue. Anyone remember a team that won the national title almost a decade ago with a 14-0 record?

Now they're talking about the top 25. Let's see what they say when they get to tOSU....OHHHH....LOL

They stopped at Texas.

Nope, no bias there, either. Does everybody have their subscription to TLN yet?

Texas is in the top 25? Oh yeah they return a bunch from that 5 and 7 team

According to ESPN, though, that doesn't count, since Tressel is a cheater.

Inserting eye rolling smiley here, LOL :roll1:

ESPN will do everything in their power to ensure people forget 2002.

I get what you're saying, Mili, however the logistics alone for a Division 1A playoff would be awfully difficult. It works out for 1-AA or 2 because they don't care if they get 15,000 people to watch because there is no real money at stake with advertising or even seat revenue. With 1-A you would have to play the games at big stadiums.

How would you get that many fans to travel with less than 1 week's notice to see their team ? The answer is you probably wouldn't....therefore the playoff game would become a home game for the closest team. I guess that's not a huge problem but perhaps it is.

Also - I've heard playoff proponents say to use the current BCS bowl format as the early rounds of the playoff. Then this would virtually guarantee that a BigTen team is playing a road game in the early rounds.....New Orleans, Miami, Pasadena, Scottsdale.

If you're going to have a playoff then a lot of questions need to be answered. I've yet to see answers that were very good.

This should be good.....

And for all that may be saying something - I'm working from home today and have ESPN playing in the background cause I wanted to see how the Yankees/Sox played out last night. When it came on and I heard, "Yankees Suck!!!" I kinda figured out what happened....

EDIT - ESPN begins with, of course, mentioning tOSU. They have a panel of 'analysts' - moderated by Rece Davis:

Panelists:

Kirk, Mark May, Robert Smith, Rod Gilmore, Jay Bilas (basketball), Urban Meyer, and Mike Belotti. Joan Cronin (Tennessee athletic director), and Nick Saban, and Bob Stoops. They also had Mike Tanhhhhhhh something or other (former Big East Conf Pres).

And it begins.

Urban - Basically says that the Coaches should be fired for secondary violations if we're holding the kids responsible for things. Stoops says the same thing - if I'm holding a 18 year old kid responsible, why not hold a 45 year old grown man responsible.

Rece - "Most important rule for enforcing?"

Kirk - Control the enforcing third parties and outside influences. Saban agreed with Kirk.

Robert Smith - "Pryor was more important than a long snapper. They should pay the kid." Gilmore agrees with Smith.

Mark May with a shiat eating look. Now a bunch of arguing.

Kirk says I like BCS.

Mark May - "I still like a plus 1 game. Wahhhh"

Saban - "Most coaches don't like a plus one, dumbass."

The rest of it airs on Sunday....on Sportscenter...ROFLOL

Find that funny... considering the "Big Red" dealership issue a few years ago .. I love how they act all high and mighy then play the plausible deniability... "Oh i didn't know, I shouldn't be fired"

Sorry, but I've more than covered these questions ad naseum in other threads so I'm not going to re-do so here. A 16-team format, using the top 16 BCS-ranked teams, would more than work. There would be so much money to be made it would be ridiculous.

That really is no different than the current BCS configuration.....Big ten teams generally play on the road most of the time. It is rare when we have an neutral site.....but I understand the concerns you detailed....

Well, maybe Lucas Oil will end up getting a BCS bowl, at least then you'd have Midwestern representation...
