ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

I actually think Bama, LSU, South Carolina, and UGA are all BCS-bowl caliber teams. After that they have a few decent teams in UTenn, Florida. The rest are a big ? mark.

Florida's D is actually pretty good. With their QB is playing better, and avoiding Bama is year, they might have a shot at a BCS game.

Guess who despised Herbie for his disrespectful conference bias? The SEC. He just flipped sides. When did this happen? The same year that Delaney told ESPN to take their insulting offer and watch him make billions elsewhere.

SCar & UGA have been very underwhelming, like they often are. Solid depth sure, but not elite teams.
Bowling Green disagrees.

I dont know how UGA and Scar have been underwhelming. They have been blowing out opponents lately.

Just watch Scar vs Mizzou today. Florida had a bad game vs BGSU but they came back strong with wins over UTenn and aTm

I see. It's my fault that he offers up empty cliches rather than analysis and that I call him on it, particularly when someone sings the praises of how "right" he is.
Says the person who is known almost exclusively for being a contrarian.

But thanks for telling me how to do my job. Clearly I'm being overpaid at my volunteer job.
Bryant has chased down a number of plays this year. Your hyperbole was ridiculous.

Bryant consistently takes bad angles which you're confusing with bad speed.
1. So what if I'm a contrarian? Does that justify insulting me every time I express a point of view you disagree with?

2. Like I said, your continual one-note song about what a useless tool Herbstreit is has become even more of a cliche than his spouting off about SEC speed.

3. The fact something is a cliche doesn't mean it's not true. And I hardly think saying someone is accurate in saying one thing is "singing praises." Herbstreit doesn't offer much steak to accompany the sizzle, but he's not an idiot.

4. I've seen Bryant being run away from by tight ends. I agree that he often takes bad angles, but I'm not "confusing" anything. If you lack better-than-average speed, that makes taking the proper angles even more important.

5. I'm not the one who asked you to work as an admin/mod for free. And the fact you do so is admirable, up to the point where you start taking yourself and your opinions so seriously that you break your own rules in insulting those of us who simply want to voice a different point of view.

Personally, I think the site suffers when moderators have such an intolerant attitude toward those they disagree with.

Both of which happen to be in the SEC so they must be good, right?

Well Tennessee did beat NC State the previous week and was ranked top 25 so they were at least decent I think.

aTM again is a question mark like I think they are. But florida is on their way to being a 8-9 win team which is pretty decent.

I insulted your insult of bryant being slower than every DB in the entire SEC, which includes the worse than B1G trainwrecks Kentucky. The league that had two 4.7 DBs at the combine.

That was an extreme statement unless your goal is to reside in the other end of BP at almost all times

how is post 06 uf vs osu remotely relevant to 2012?

they JUST played and neither squad was remotely similar to that 7 year old beatdown, yet he goes back to that company calling card.

and here you are to sing praises about how right he was, as though it was reasonable let alone relevant analysis.

The B1G is a disaster this year and been slipping for awhile. Herbie has been trashing the conference no matter how good or bad they are in a particular year and skipping almost every opportunity to criticize his employee"s conference

I hate when ESPN continually hypes the SEC.....but.....
I hate it more when the top half of the SEC really is that good.

I think Ohio St is one of the best in the B1G....however
IMHO
Alabama, LSU, S.Car, Florida, Georga would definately beat Ohio St.
Tenn, T.AM, would probably be losses as well.

I fully agree the speed is nothing to do with how fast a kid can run....
Hell speed is just passion and knowing where to go...I've seen MANY different kids go beast mode and look like the fastest guy on the field.
Any one can do it at any given time, you just have to know where to go and have the passion to be a beast on every single play. You cant take a couple plays off now and then.

You have to be prepared and coached that mentality. That IMO is what the SEC is doing better than the B1G.

Anyone look at the most recent Sports Illustrated?

They had a pretty interesting section on the speed in college football.

The took the NFL combine 40 times over the last 5 years which came out to be over 1000 players.

Anyway, based on the averages of those times the SEC is faster than the Big 10 at skill positions with a difference of 4.6071 versus 4.6189 for the Big 10.

The Big 10 was actually tops in the D line category with an average time of 4.9217 while the SEC was DEAD LAST with an average time of 5.0050.

The point is that the differences in these times is really negligible. Like the above poster said, if you play fast then you are fast.

It's just laziness on the part of Derpstriet and the other heads when they trot out the SEC speed argument. The SEC is just like every other big conference. They have their good teams and their junk teams. The other conferences just don't have the world wide leader to pimp them morning, noon and night.

EDIT By the way, the good teams in the SEC are REALLY good this year. I was kind of down on Bama for awhile, but they might just be the juggernaut that they were made out to be. Just waiting for the ESPN round table on whether or not Bama would beat the Browns.

This post is just a devastating takedown of Herbie's lazy analysis. Speed, speed, speed, speed, etc... It's like a fucking broken record with that guy. There's absolutely no depth or actual thought to anything he says anymore. He deserves every bit of criticism he receives and then some.
