ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

I guess I just don't see it. Sure they overhype the SEC at the moment, but that's because the SEC has really, on average, fielded better teams than other conferences, on average in recent years. Sports journalists are creatures of habit and tend to stick with their preconceptions.

I also think its a little funny for buckeyes fans to chaff at that when you consider the fact that OSU seems to be always overrated by the polls and the sports media at the beginning of every season, largely due to the influence of the program's historical dominance. Ditto for Michigan this year. All we heard all spring and summer was that UM was "back." I think we all know how that has turned out. When it comes to ESPN and OSU, I think that, if anything, they show a noticeable bias in favor of Ohio State. I also think they tend to devote an inordinate amount of time to covering the program year in and year out because they know that the Buckeyes have one of the largest, if not the largest college football fan base in the country.

I dunno, like I said, maybe I just don't see it. But one thing I do know is that every fan base of every team out there thinks that the media is biased against their team.

dude, stfu.

90% of your posts on this board are in the PSU thread.. and everytime you leave it you bring down the bucks. the reason the SEC and ESPN are hated/disrespected here has been laid out 1000's of times if you need a refresher go look it up.

In the last 20 years Ohio State has ended up better in the AP poll 9 times, and ended up ranked worse in 11 of them. 2 of the times they ended up worse were when they were pre season #1 and ended the season #2.

If you are going to slam Ohio State, try and not be ignorant. You clearly have a bias that skews reality.

I would say that the only times we were overrated in the last decade were in 2004 and last year. We still ended up being ranked at #20 in 2004 after starting the season at #9.

That just about cancels out the 2002 season. Ohio State started ranked about 13. How did that work for the people with the "overrated" opinion?

I'd say we were overrated in 2007 only because no one else seemed to want to step up to the plate.

You might want to look up facts before you spew nonsense as fact. I've done the research. From 2001-2011 Ohio State's average preseason ranking was 7. Their average final ranking was 7. You're going to have to explain to me how that equates to being overrated by the polls every season.

Looks like I was mistaken.

It's all good. ESPN and others spout nonsense and people just take it as fact. When you actually research their facts you find that they are typically skewed to promote their agenda.

Well that is true. The other thing is that I live in Seattle so I'm the only buckeye fan amongst all my friends and coworkers. They like to bust my chops about it whenever they get the chance and they all feel that OSU is overrated and shoved down everyone's throat by the likes of ESPN. So maybe over time that has distorted my own perception with regards to the overrated thing. As others have pointed out, I certainly was mistaken in my views on that.

I do stand by my statement that every fan base thinks the media hates their team
