Duke lax and accusations

I have it on good authority that if the kidnapping and sexual offense charges don't stick she is going to accuse them of identity theft and mail fraud.

Failing which slander and libel charges will be preferred.
Which on falling apart will be following by insinuations that her civil liberties were violated by the use of harsh language.
Once these fail to stick she will appear on the steps of the courthouse, adorned in eye-catching thigh-high garter and begroom lingerie, singing "buddy, can you spare a dime," in a duet with Nifong. The DA will certainly be wearing his famous barbershop quartet waistcoat and straw boater.

Justice, it is blind, but it does have a harsh sense of humor.

This sounds like a real fucked up situation. But this is inappropriate:

"If it's not the way it's been reported, then why are they so unwilling to tell us what, in their words, did take place that night?" Nifong told Smith on Thursday. "And one would wonder why one needs an attorney if one was not charged and had not doing anything wrong."

He's not supposed to make his case to the public and the media, especially where a potential jury pool could be tainted. These are arguments he couldn't even fucking make in court. This District Attorney should be reprimanded and taken off the case.

As I heard on a local radio talk show here in Charlotte it is customary that charges brought by the bar are not introduced until the criminal charges have run their course. My guess since the rape charges were dropped last week the bar was "free" to press the charges. In the article I believe it states that the bar had been working on these charges since March or about 3 weeks after the initial rape charges were filed.

I agree with District Attorney Nifong. What happened here is reprehensible. It was compounded by ugly slurs referring to race and class and negative stereotyping. It speaks to community values of justice, decency, and fairness.

However, I use these words to describe his behavior. It is time to drop all charges against these men and to publicly apologize for the damage done to them. It also is time for Nifong to face the consequences for his actions in his personal capacity.
