Duke's Michael Ward celebrates his goal in Saturday's 17-11 victory over Dartmouth.

Before the game, the Blue Devils wore black warmup jerseys bearing either No. 6, 13 or 45 -- the numbers of charged players David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann.

Brown recruiting accused Duke lacrosse player

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Brown is recruiting one of the three Duke lacrosse players accused of sexually assaulting a woman hired to perform as an exotic dancer.

The Ivy League school confirmed a report in The Brown Daily Herald student newspaper that said the university was recruiting Reade Seligmann. Brown sports information director Christopher Humm said Wednesday he could not comment further because of NCAA rules.

Brown lacrosse coach Lars Tiffany added he could not gauge the student's interest. He did not know if Brown had a policy barring admission to students facing criminal charges.

"It hasn't gotten to that stage," he said. "We're so early in the recruiting process. It's uncharted territory, you could say."

You would think by now that this woman would have learned that keeping mum with the Prosecutors is not going to help them, or her, make their case. She pulled this stuff when Nifong was heading the case toward the rocks, now she is doing the same to the NC AG's office. At some point I am guessing the AG simply drops the whole thing and lets the civil suits chew her up.

ABC News

EXCLUSIVE: Duke Lacrosse Accuser Not Answering Investigators' Key Questions
With the Investigation in Its Final Weeks, Sources Say Neither the Accuser Nor the Second Dancer Have Fully Cooperated With Special Prosecutors

March 16, 2007 — The woman who accused three members of the Duke University men's lacrosse team of sexual assault is not being forthcoming with special prosecutors, law enforcement sources close to the case tell ABC News.
The accuser has met at least twice with prosecutors from the North Carolina attorney general's office, which took over the case from Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong in January.
In those interviews, she gave incomplete answers when asked about the alleged assault and the events surrounding it, according to sources.
The same sources added that Kim Roberts, the second dancer who attended the March 2006 party, had also refused to speak with investigators and had said she would do so only if subpoenaed. Roberts has spoken to the media about the case, including doing an interview with ABC News' "Good Morning America."

It is official all charges have been dropped....

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070411/D8OEJ3VO2.html

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Prosecutors dropped all charges Wednesday against the three Duke lacrosse players accused of sexually assaulting a stripper at a party, saying the athletes were innocent victims of a "tragic rush to accuse" by an overreaching district attorney. "There were many points in the case where caution would have served justice better than bravado," North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper said in a damning assessment of Durham County District Mike Nifong's handling of the sensational case.

Any word on whether Al Sharpton and/or Jessie Jackson is outraged about this injustice?

These three really did suffer "a great hurt".

Duke player: We went to hell and back

David Evans, one of the three men exonerated today when the final charges in the Duke lacrosse sex case were dropped today, said they went "to hell and back" and he hoped changes to the legal system would be made as a result of their case. The case sparked a national debate over race and the behavior of privileged students, and criticism of the district attorney who originally pressed charges.

I've said it from the beginning that this prosecutor didn't pass the smell test. I actually find it to be a shame that the North Carolina Bar Association didn't act sooner to pull him from the case.

Would love to be the attorney that gets to file the "malicious prosecution" suit.

I just watched some clips from the news conference today. David Evans strikes me as a very intelligent and eloquent young man. I can't really say anything at this point that hasn't already been said about how horrible this whole ordeal was..I just really hope these kids have no problems continuing their educations and finding jobs in the future. Evans alluded to it in expressing hope that universities would approach the two others that were accused and open their doors to them.

I saw earlier that they've asked Duke to cover their legal fees..personally, I think the state of North Carolina should be covering them, as Nifong was acting so heinously on their behalf.

I was thinking the same thing about Evans. That speech was pretty polished considering the circumstances. He's been like that through this whole thing though.

There are some pretty wealthy parents involved here who are livid. Can they sue Nifong in his personal capacity?

ESPN's legal analyst said that there could be no suit against Nifong or anybody on the state's legal team, there are laws that protect them from that.

edit - Roger Cossack is the guy's name
