DT Luke Fickell (HC Wisconsin Badgers)

Step 1. Complete. Mike MacDonald accepted the Ravens DC job.

Step 2. Where does Jim land? John doesn’t steal his brothers DC……I’d be blown away if Jim is back next year.

Step 3. Michigan hires a coach whose instantly better than Jimbo bc Jimbo is a fucking joke.

So that sucks…..
Let’s review what has transpired up north since tOSU hired James Patrick Tressel.

  • tsun’s dominance in the rivalry comes to a swift end
  • Lllllloyd Carr’s teams experience diminishing returns culminating in a humiliating loss to FCS Appalachian State followed by a total ass beating on their own field by Oregon
  • Lllllloyd retires. They hire Rich Rodriguez who the DFBIA and most pundits proclaim will turn the B1G on its ear and usher in a new era of ttun dominance
  • Rich Rodriguez loses to Toledo, goes 3-9 in year one, draws heat from the ncaa, commits numerous other PR gaffes, has two more underwhelming seasons and is run out of town after weeping at a banquet to the strains of adult contemporary wimp Josh Groban and having Miss St drop half a hundred on him in a garbage bowl game.
  • They bumble the follow up search and end up with a career <.500 coach because he used to coach there. His retard charm and gusto wins over the DFBIA and he gathers even more support after beating a rudderless tOSU team with a lame duck interim coach and finishing the year with 11 wins against a comically weak schedule. After that, he’s probably best remembered for running his concussed qb back out on the field despite the fact that he looked like a roofied college co-ed. He’s dumped after year 4.
  • THIS IS IT! THE STARS HAVE ALIGNED TO BRING HOME THE CHOSEN ONE! He gets off to a pretty strong 19-3 start, then loses to Iowa and short circuits his already addled brain in a remarkable choke job in the Game. His next 4 years are marred by continued failure against rivals and in big games, general underachieving, the failure to develop anything approaching an elite qb and an increasingly frustrated DFBIA. Somehow, the stars align for him to eek out a playoff berth as arguably the worst playoff team of the era. That’s followed by getting tarred and feathered on National tv in said playoff then losing his hotshot DC after one year.
  • Now, he appears to be spreading his legs for the NFL, but no dick is forthcoming as of yet.
Simple Jim’s win % is right around their historical norm since the introduction of the forward pass. He’s not better than that. He was supposed to be the foolproof hire that finally took them to the next level and evened the playing field with tOSU. if THAT guy can’t do it, who can? Their AD bumbled the “Harbaugh situation” last year and he’s doing it again this year. Anybody think that guy’s gonna go out and land a whale? They’re a dead program and no amount of huffing and media fluffing is reviving it outside of the rare one-off season like they had in 2021. There are much deeper institutional issues than just a “bad coach” that are keeping ttun from being more than a 9-4 or 10-3 program on average and it’s gonna take a total shift in the way they think up there for it to change. They are what they are because of the culture they’ve spent 75 years nurturing.

Fick going north is my fuckin nightmare scenario. Imo he got a raw deal at tOSU. They let him hire 1(one) coach and that guy has won in the NFL then told him he needed experience at a major program before taking over a program like tOSU, then hired a guy who had no real experience running a program. He has every reason to feel slighted by tOSU imo. Fuck Michigan

The two primary issues appear to be an unwillingness to fully embrace NIL, and even more problematic, that they have trouble using the transfer portal due to some bullshit with their admissions and credits not transferring in.

As we wade deeper into what is essentially free agency in CFB, their inability to embrace and utilize the transfer portal will cripple them and I'm here for it.

Semantics but I'd say those are two significant symptoms. Their underlying disease is institutional arrogance and there is no quick cure for that.

You hate to see it, of course.

You guys talking about that TUN I figure not Coach Fickell and UC? Not trying to be an ass, pretty good at that without trying, but I was confused for a second how that nasty shithole full of DFBIA got all over a Buckeye legends' thread. Hmmmm?

Oh, there was briefly some speculation about Fick potentially taking ttun job if Simple Jim actually was able to fool an nfl team into hiring him. This is just bleed over from that.
