He looks good in the highlights, but his competition in Northern Kentucky is not very good. He might end up being a good to great college QB, but the staff is doing the right thing by taking their time in evaluating him.

I agree, don't think there will be much action until after the season. But this kid is a baller and he would fit right into the system IMO. Just my 2 cents :biggrin:

LOTS of improvement for Mr. Barker between his sophomore and junior year. First, his mechanics have improved night and day. He has shortened up his delivery, has a higher release, and is stepping into most of his throws. Still some wasted motion but he looks much better there.

And bad competition or not, Barker has a very strong arm and is throwing into some tight windows all over the field. Three things really stick out to me: 1) He makes every throw in that film. There are short, intermediate, and deep balls thrown perfectly. Shoot, that first throw went about 50 yards on his back foot and right on the money. But I was more impressed with his zip and accuracy in the intermediate 20-25 yard posts and in-routes. He also knows when to put some touch on the ball and when to gun it. He also throws the ball as well on the run as he does with his feet set, which would serve him well in UFM's offense. 2) He really has great pocket presence. He move around well in the pocket while keeping his eyes downfield. He also is aware of check-down routes and doesn't lock onto receivers. 3) Athletic ability. This is tougher to gauge with the poor competition, but he is quick within the first 10 yards and is a tough runner. No real top end speed to speak of but he could nonetheless be a very effective zone-read runner at the next level, especially with his passing ability to keep defenses honest.

Overall, I am really rooting for Drew to get an offer still. He is all Buckeye, which is great, but has both great tangible and intangible traits that I think would make him a great QB at the next level. I would be a fan of bringing Drew in along with a more athletic QB like Ulmer if we end up having room.

Some of the top prospects in the 2014 class are already talking about playing together in college. Following Saturday, that place could be Ohio State.

ESPN Watch List quarterback Drew Barker (Hebron, Ky./Conner) was talking with fellow Watch List prospects Raekwon McMillan (Hinesville, Ga./Liberty County) and Clifton Garrett (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) about all teaming up for the same program in 2014, and all three were at Ohio State for the Michigan game. Class of 2013 commits Ezekiel Elliott and Jalin Marshall were doing their best to persuade the trio, too.

"We were all talking about how sweet it would be if we all went to the same school. They were saying Ohio State is the place to be, Coach [Urban] Meyer, he's started the [career] off right, first season going 12-0, can't get any better than a perfect season, jump on the Ohio State Buckeye train and get things going, that's what they were saying," Barker said.

Agreed, bringing in two QBs is a way to solve the QB quandry.

We seem to have all these QBs out there who want to play for tOSU.

Zwick and Troy Smith. Need I say more?

Let' admit it ... the NFL cannot judge QB talent on draft day, and neither can the NCAA.

Drew Barker has the makings of a natural leader. Talked to a lot of recruits: Raekwon McMillan, Thaddeus Snodgrass, James Quick and commits.

All their QB prospects are great. I think Drew should get the offer because he is already friends with many OSU targets.
