Report: Ex-Missouri WR Dorial Green-Beckham could sit out 2014 season
Former Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham could sit out the 2014 season and enter the 2015 NFL draft, reports CBSSports.com’s Jeremy Fowler.
According to the report, sources from Eastern Illinois — a rumored destination for Green-Beckham — told Fowler that the receiver favored sitting out for the year.
Green-Beckham was dismissed from the Missouri program in April after being the focus of an assault investigation by the Columbia, Missouri, police department. The receiver allegedly broke into an apartment looking for his girlfriend. Green-Beckham then allegedly pushed a female occupant of the apartment, causing her to fall down stairs and injure her wrist and hand. He also allegedly hurt his girlfriend during the incident. Green-Beckham was not arrested in the case.
“First and most importantly, I take responsibly for my conduct and my mistakes. Don’t blame my girlfriend or her friends for anything. I am not looking for sympathy. I thank those who have given me concern. I have been young and dumb. I want to be better,”Green-Beckham said in a statement last month.
“During my suspension I’m entering counseling. With help, I know I can be stronger emotionally and spiritually. My relationship with God, my family, friends, teammates and coaches are most important in my life — not football. It may not be possible to fix everything, but it won’t be for not trying.”
