Donald Sterling and his comments

If I were black I'd want respected black leaders speaking for me if I couldn't speak for myself and you could bet I wouldn't want to be patronized by some delusional white guilt liberal.

"If I were black..." Oh please tell me more about how easy it is for you to relate.

That would be like me saying, "If I were born in the Middle East to fundamentalist Islamic parents, I'd totally prefer to be Catholic and I would love America because... freedom." It's always easy to talk about what you'd do in someone else's shoes.

Sounds like Sterling had a classic interview last night with Anderson Cooper. Some highlights:

1. Magic Johnson apparently has AIDS now - Sterling made sure to mention it several times. Must have missed the announcement. (I thought about intentionally omitting the part about HIV not being AIDS just to see who will follow in Sterling's ignorant footsteps, but nah)

2. Sterling believes his players and fans love him. It's the media that hates him. Delusional.

3. He asked Anderson Cooper (!) if he ever liked a girl so much that he got jealous when she was with another man.

4. Sterling said Magic never does anything for the black community; conveniently forgetting that Magic's foundation raised more than 6 times as much money for inner city programs than Sterling has donated ever to any charity.

Like I've said several times in this thread, Donald Sterling is an unmitigated piece of shit. I'm just glad he's putting it all out there for everyone else to see now.

Dave Chappelle has a bit that roughly says the same. I don't really care for anecdotes in online discussion, but sincr they've somehow become "evidence" in the BP Poli forums, I'll give it a go.

Being white, and having black friends, I've had a ridiculous amount of experience with the kind of guy Malcolm X wouldn't have respected. I honestly couldn't give an estimate on just how many white dudes have smiled in my friends faces then, because I'm white and wear work boots, start tossing around the"N" word the second my buddies leave the room. I think that's why I get so fired up about it. It's not so much that racism exists, it's that the VAST majority of racists I've met in real life are fucking cowards. They use code words like "thug" when referring to black dudes that don't havr a criminal record. They post [Mark May] on FB, pics of prohibition era mobsters that actually killed people, with taglines about how these white criminals are "REAL GANGSTERS, NOW PULL YOUR PANTS UP", as if it's ok to be proud of a white piece of [Mark May] because he wore a three piece suit.

I worked construction. Poured walls. In two years, my boss, who is a millionaire, had hired roughly 75 white guys. Not a single one besides me lasted more than a month. We were getting desperate. Our poured wall crew was a foreman and two other guys. Boss says "if anyone knows a guy looking for work that will actually show up and work, let me know asap". I tell him my best friend needs a job. Says bring him in tomorrow. I bring my dude, he busts his ass and everyone on our crew loves him. He saved our asses. A month later, my boss takes me to a non poured wall job. Sitting in the truck at lunch, he forgets I'm one of the four guys in the truck as he tells the guys, "Hey, just so you're all prepared, I accidentally hired a fuckin N*****". Nevermind my boss had fired three white dudes in the three months prior for doing drugs on the job, one of which had actually stolen a lightbulb from a homeowner and used it to smoke meth in the customers bathroom while my buddy didn't do drugs. Never mind that in a year my dude didn't miss a single day of work. Never mind that he worked harder than pretty much every single guy but me. He was a N*****, and after hearing that word about forty times in a year, he left for a lower paying job at a company that fired people for saying [Mark May] like "I don't approve of race mixing". Funny part about the dude that told my buddy that (this friend is bi-racial), is that he was the one fired a year earlier for getting caught smoking meth out of the homeowners lightbulb. It may be that racism is becoming less prevalent in national chains and big corporations, but there are an entire field of employment, all across small town USA where being non-white all but guarantees you aren't employable.
Yes, I could go on with anecdotes too, I've been on both sides. I know that when someone, like a black for example, is in the minority where whites are in charge that it had to be rough. When I was in the Air Force I have a heavy equipment operator and our shop was most white "country boys" and we had this one troop named Bradly, black and kind of on the weak side. They used to give him a lot of shit and I always felt the need to stick up for him. I used to date a black girl back in the early 90's and I could tell you about the racism (or prejudice as I prefer to say, racist/racism is overused) that came my why.
All that is small beans and not on my radar one iota. My focus for the past few years has been how retarded we all have become in regards to talking about race and race related incidents. The Trayvon Martin case was the true eye opener for me. The way people jumped on that, threw common sense out the window and was so fast to beat the racism drum really saddened me. Also, why can't anyone see that ever since the civil rights battles and integration the black community as a whole has been moving backwards. The out of wedlock birthrates, the fatherless households, dropout rates, STD rates, new HIV case rate, crime rate, incarceration rate.... pretty much every negative category you can think of blacks are far away leading the herd. Yet nobody wants to talk about it. It's all hush-hush, mums the word. The leaders in the black community, as the Booker T Washington quote suggests want to keep it this way. The blacks have more or less become political slaves living on a mental slave plantation farmed out for political purposes to further the left wing Marxist agenda. If you had a child that faced the kinds of problems that the black community is facing to whom would you hold up the mirror? The last few years I've been following some black men on youtube and some blogs that are trying to get blacks back on track. Their ideas are not radical, they're very straight forward and honest the problem is that they're not politically correct. They preach that they have to get rid of this victim complex and start doing for themselves, stop depending on the white man to come in and fix all their wrongs. Being told that you're a victim and "it's not your fault" only makes you weaker, it's a complex that keeps you in chains. The only way to break those chains is to accept responsibility and fix things yourself.
Political correctness has also made us hesitant to speak openly about the differences in races. Why is it ok to suggest, because it's true, that as a rule blacks are more athletically gifted than whites but to suggest that we have any other difference, especially if their not favorable, is not ok? I see blacks much like I see native Americans. They thrived in their own environments living as they had evolved over the years but when misplaced or disrupted have for the most part failed to adequately adapt to the culture/environment that they were forced into. The reservations are much like the housing projects and native Americans face the same problems as the black community. Yes, many from both have successfully assimilated and integrated into mainstream society but more have not. This is a problem that will never be dealt with because there really is no solution. I see human much as scientist do other animals. Think of how many times an invasive species has been introduced and totally destroyed the balance of the eco system of where it was introduced, thriving while killing off those that had survived for thousands upon thousands of years. Other times new species are introduced to the eco system and some to adapt and survive but most of them do not take and die off.
You can also use a fish tank as a microcosm of the human race. You have to be careful which fish you mix together, some fish eat others.

That's your classic white liberal mindset, poor old negro can't think for himself so I have to do it for him. Any negro that disagrees is a self loathing uncle Tom.

Separate from any other discussions on this thread, how does his lawyer allow him to continue to speak?

have to say, dub, that your response doesn't address anything that you replied to.
Yes, it sometimes get off track. I think that if you've listen to enough lectures, hours upon hours of black speakers addressing these issues, although you may not be able to truly relate having not lived it (and to be fair neither has any other European descended member of this board) you can however hear both sides of the argument and chime in with your own two cents. Mine is that the white liberal has done way more harm than good to the African descended members of our society and across the board their policies have done nothing but hurt them as evident by not only the data but also just by driving down to the ghetto, getting out of your car and taking a look around and talking to people. There's many that want to blame the "white power structure" for holding blacks back yet these same people expect the "white power structure" to make things right. It's insanity. There are many blacks out there that want their community to stop depending on the white man, to organize and work towards the betterment of their own community without asking the white man for help. Blacks have trillions of dollars running through their community, think of all the wealthy athletes, entertainers, entrepreneurs and such yet there's not even one black owned bank. If you go down to the get all of the businesses aside from the occasional barbershop and soul food restaurant are foreign owned. There's a church on almost every corner yet none of these pastors live in the community, they solicit donations from their congregation and go live amongst the whites in the suburbs.
Blacks are being pimped by the very people that claim to want to help them and most of them are too blind to see it. It's really a shame.

Frankly you missed my entire point. It's easy to say people of color need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Not so easy to do when damn near every job in this county that pays enough to not receive food stamps won't hire black men.

That must be a regional thing, I don't see that here. I work at a grocery store smack dab in the middle of one of the worst hoods in Arizona comprised mostly of poor whites and blacks, we have help wanted signs, ads in the paper you name it, we're always looking for help yet the Mexicans are the only ones that ever apply for anything, we'd have to shut down without them. I do understand that the midwest is an entirely different animal. I left when I was a kid but I do remember the racial divide, certain jobs were for whites and other were for blacks (unwritten rule for the most part.) I had a good friend in the Air Force from Michigan, he never struck me a racist kind of guy. One time i went back to Michigan to visit him and suddenly, back in his native environment he was a HUGE racist. I asked him about it and he told me that blacks treat him the same way.
People say the south has racial issues, I've never seen as much racism and tension between blacks and whites in the south as I have in the Great Lakes region and the Northeast. Out west it's pretty mellow save for some isolated incidents in the worst parts of the inner cities.

Oh, so it's not possible for anyone to relate to someone else just because that othe person is of different ethnicity? So enlighten us as to just when can one person relate to another.
