Donald Sterling and his comments

Link to back that up?

How many educated black men cant get a job that you personally know? I am guessing none.
I almost forgot, our one black employee is the head of loss prevention. This dude has the respect of 100% of the staff, not because he's black but because he carries himself in a respectful manner. He dresses himself appropriately, he speaks eloquent proper English and he does his job like a boss.
Pro-tip: If you come apply for a job and we look up your facebook page and see this

you're not getting hired

Once it turns into a contest of one upping the next guy in public displays of white guilt atonement stupid [Mark May] like this is bound to happen.
I've never been a fan of going overboard on self-flagellation. It leads to consequences that are awkward at best, gruesome at worst.

(Here I had intended to place a picture of self-flagellation from a Google search, but upon doing that search I immediately had to rush to the bathroom to hurl my breakfast.)

But don't you see that this is part of the problem? The definition of carrying himself in a respectful manner, dressing appropriately, and speaking eloquently is defined by those in charge -- you know -- whitey. In order to be respected, he has to...more or less....act like a white person.

(It also helps if you have a white name.)

I disagree, appropriate dress and command of a language is universal. If a white guy came in dressed like a neo-nazi with some kind of SS name, tattoo and unable to conjugate verbs he's be thrown out on his ass right alongside of "Cnooote".

First and foremost, the name thing is messed up. That is institutionalized racism at its worst, and no one in their right mind would condone of it.

But to your first point, what's wrong with assimilation to the dominant culture? If I moved anywhere else in the world, you could bet your ass that I would learn to speak "eloquently", dress in the "appropriate" manner, and learn how to conduct myself in a "respectful" way. And for years, that's how immigrants to the U.S. thought, and how children of immigrants were raised. Now, every construct of this country, as set by those in control (on both sides of the aisle), is seen as a racist entity. Proper English is proper English. Formal attire is formal attire. A respectful manner is a respectful manner. There is nothing inherently racist about assimilation. This doesn't mean that you can't retain your native tongue and customs, but in the professional world, there are certain norms that EVERYONE must abide by or we will fail to persevere as a nation.

People say the south has racial issues, I've never seen as much racism and tension between blacks and whites in the south as I have in the Great Lakes region and the Northeast. Out west it's pretty mellow save for some isolated incidents in the worst parts of the inner cities.

I didn't notice anything different between living in the Midwest and the South with blacks and whites. However, being identified as a Northerner leads to some interesting issues....

Exactly, what you do at home on your own time is your own business but if you want a job at my company you're going to conduct yourself in a professional manner. We're not in business to be "inclusive", we're in business to make money and if you can help us to do you you will be a valuable addition. We're not there to support your anti-social dysfunction.

But can you understand why someone would not want to conform with the norms of the ruling power when that group enslaved and oppressed their race for hundreds of years? And, as much as people want to pretend it is, this shit isn't ancient history.

"Okay, okay -- you can sit in the front of the bus, use our bathrooms, department stores, and water fountains...maybe...MAYBE...even marry our daughters someday. But if you want a good job, you better learn some goddamned respect and starting dressing and talking like us, too!

Welcome to reality
When you're off the clock you can dress and speak however you want, if you want a job you will conform to our basic standards of conduct while on company time, cut and dry, no exceptions.
