DL Michael Bennett (National Champion)

With Washington moving inside this is only going to help Bennett. We saw it Saturday against Indy which has a better OL than scUM. I see TSUN giving up another 6-7 sacks and Mr. Bennett will definitely be in on his share of that number.

Spence, Bosa, Bennet, Washington, Schutt, Miller, etc. How can you not be excited about our D-Line in the future? I remember a couple of plays where the DL had eaten up Indy's OL on run plays and Shazier/Perry were there waiting for the RB in the hole.

He was talking about Coach Johnson emphasizing strip sacks. I do seem to recall that tOSU gave up on strip tackles 2 years ago because they were resulting in missed tackles. I hope it works. Seems like it should.

One of 42 players nominated to the Lott IMPACT watch list:

http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2014/05/ohio_state_defensive_tackle_mi.html

The Lott IMPACT Trophy is awarded annually to the defensive player in college football who combines great character with impressive on-the-field performances. IMPACT is an acronym that stands for integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity.

Only one player in the history of Ohio State football has won the award - former linebacker James Laurinaitis in 2008. A.J. Hawk (2005) and Quinn Pitcock (2007) were finalists, while John Simon (2012) and Ryan Shazier (2013) were semifinalists.

Other nominees from the Big Ten are Penn State linebacker Ben Kline, Michigan State defensive end Shilique Calhoun, Nebraska safety Corey Cooper and defensive end Randy Gregory and Northwestern linebacker Colin Ellis.

Hadn't played any of Bennett's interviews, but saw him at the B10 presser. Quite an erudite, pithy, and concise young man. He had a lot to say, and carried it off intelligently. Pretty clear why he went to Chicago as a Buckeye representative. All three carried themselves well, but in my minds eye, Michael stood out. He was humble ('between the four D-line starters, we have 19*s between us, and I'm the 4* and bringing down the average'), but showed great leadership qualities. Can see Coach Johnson leaning on him quite a bit. Looking forward to this year, if only to watch tOSU's D-line wreck havoc on Meatchicken, and MSU, and VaTech, etc. O-lines and smear some opposing Qbacks. Is it Aug 30 yet? Go Bucks!
