Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

I still don't get why nothing was done.

Shortly after I was married, back in 1999 or 2000, I visited my wife's family in a small town in western Ohio. Her family, including her hard ass redneck uncles, were placing her nephew, at maybe 6 years old, on a snowmobile. He was wailing and crying and didn't want to do it. I shoved her family, whom I had just met, aside and grabbed the kid and took him away and told nobody to come near us.

That was a freaking snowmobile. And I'm not exactly a strong person.

How the hell did this guy not stop what was happening? I understand shock. But jesus, you are on a football staff. He had the strength and had been taught to have strength. This just confounds me.

Yeah, I don't know how mcQueary saw a boy being raped and just left the building. That lack of action is inexplicable to me.

Beyond that, however, he took it to the man in Happy Valley - Joe Pa. If anyone could've gotten the police to act it was him. Instead, he did the minimum and moved on with life. As time passed and he saw nothing was happening he could've sounded the alarms. He did nothing.

Retire at the end of the season? Fuck that. Don't give him that benefit. :shake:

He should retire after their last home game this saturday.

The treatment he and his team are going to receive in Columbus and Madison will be brutal, fair or not.

Second Mile couldn't have been a better recruiting ground for a pedophile. I suspect it will be getting sued as well.

And that is just another disgusting detail in this whole fucked up mess.

It is my belief that child predators do not wake up one day in their 30s and start offending. It is my belief that Sandusky was offending before 1977 when this charity was formed. It is my belief that this charity was formed for the sole purpose of finding children (prey) who, either had no parents to look out for them, or absentee parents who didn't care. It is my belief that Sandusky will be just one of several child predators to have used this charity for those purposes i.e. birds of a feather. It is my belief that if the above is true, this adds a level of evil to put the death penalty squarely on the table.

And until we know that the victim McQueary witnessed in the shower is finally identified and located, I will fear that this may be more than a serial child rapist...

What bothers me is.. well, what happened to the kids bothers me first.
But what I was going to say is that it bothers me that this is still a sports story. Other than that this was happening in a sports facility, and by a sports person this has little to do with sports. This is a real-life news story. Sports stories should be about what happens on the field, or little drama stories about what will impact what happens on the field. Things like rape, molestings, murder - those should not be trivialized by people like ESPN wondering how this is going to affect recruiting. And comparing this to Jim Tressel's scandal (*cough* Bob Ryan *cough* Paul Finebaum) is further proof that some people aren't taking these crimes very seriously.

I have been a supporter of the program for many years. Without a doubt, nobody has touched me as Jerry Sandusky did.

I didnt know anything about the things Mr. Sandusky was doing. However, Mr. Paterno and Mr. Little Paterno knew all about it. Im serial guys. They knew and they should be fired. I think PSU should hire an upstanding, tie wearing, former linebacker to be the new head coach. Seriously, please get me out of Miami.
I also do not condone the "Touching" that Mr. Soon to be in a federal pound me in the a*! prison Sandusky prescribed to. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

And now the Coup de grace....

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=pf-forde_penn_state_facade_crumbling110811

Yahoo is weighing in. We know of their history of busting big time football programs. They're 2 - 0 for the year so far.

Wetzel has been on this story for a few days for Yahoo.

And Yahoo didn't 'discover' the information about Tressel when they reported it in early March.. He'd already been interviewed by the NCAA (February) after tOSU self-reported the fact (January) that he didn't forward two emails that indicated that at least 2 players had probably received improper benefits.

They deserve great credit for the Miami story. They were provided a leak to be the first to report the Tressel story, but they didn't really 'break' it.

Not directed at you, but for heaven's sake, can everybody posting in this thread at least read the 23-page presentment, which has been posted in this thread multiple times since the wee hours Sunday morning, before posting uninformed opinions in this thread?

It's frustrating to have people arguing about things that been established by the grand jury and discussed on this board days ago.

Yeah, I think I posted the presentment yesterday myself. I got to the 'Back Cracking' part and had to stop. Everytime I look at that, I think of my own.

First comment (as of right now):

Paterno was a member in a chain of command, no uniforms but nevertheless he was in a chain of command. When it was reported to him he obviously figured "this is way above my pay grade" so he did the right thing, he passed it up the chain to the next level. As hard as it is to believe it is then not his function to go double check on his superiors and see that they are doing what he thinks it the right thing. That action easily would get one finding themselves sliding down the chain . I have 30 years military and fully understand these systems. The book stops at the top and that is where heads should roll on this one. However it seems to have become the national pass time to try and ruin good peoples lives for the sake of sensationalism. That man gave his heart and soul to that program for nearly half a century and now some of you idiots without a functioning brain cell between the lot of you are calling for his head. Tomorrow is thursday give us all a break and go check on your welfare checks

Completely disagree. This isn't a player who should have reported accepting a free burger. This isn't a coach who gave a recruit a free gym bag. This isn't a staff member who dropped the "N" bomb on national television, went out and drove up to a Wendy's in an Easter Bunny costume and said something inappropriate to the woman behind the counter. This was a guy making innocent kids into victims. First, if you catch him red-handed, stop him. The right thing would probably to force yourself to not kick his ass, but I'd forgive anyone who can't resist it. Next, go to the police. I don't care if he is your friend, brother, father, sister, boss, uncle, wife, or former defensive coordinator. Paterno should have gone to the police. McQueary should have, as well. By not doing so, you're aiding the cover-up.
