Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

I would argue that Sandusky was more than a private actor because Penn State provided him with 24 hour access to (at a minimum)the football facility as part of his retirement package thereby imposing a duty on the State to at a minimum protect the people that Sandusky brought into the facility.

One explanation for McQueary's freeze-response might be that he was a prior victim of Sandusky's. Is it not accurate that McQueary's dad & Sandusky were friends and that he'd known him since childhood? Besides that, I wonder if Millen and Paterno and other co-workers of Sandusky had allowed their own children to be around Sandusky.

I've read rumors elsewhere that the reason Sandusky was allowed to stick around was because he was blackmailing the administration. E.g., If they did not give Sandusky carte blanche he would go to the press with 50 years worth of NCAA violations he witnessed under Paterno's watch. I don't know how anyone got from Point A to Point B for that tale to grow legs, but I suppose it's plausible.

It gets even stranger as the reports trickle out this morning of the midnight meeting last night. The division within the BoT between the members of the good-old-boy network and the rest that have been deliberately kept in the dark is like something out of a bad, formulaic book. Are long standing members of the Board involved too?

I think this story is only going to get weirder.

I've read worse, but I will not repeat them here. What's true will come out if the old man doesn't die first.

And a few pages back, the press is starting to cross check names involved in the charity. It is not beyond belief that child predators would flock together. We've seen this to be the case in the past...

I keep hearing folks say "We don't know the identity of that young man in the showers that day with Sandusky."

Well, shiat. Sandusky knows who the hell that kid was.

It is the State's burden of proof. Sandusky has the 5th Amendment right to remain silent. He also has the right to confront witnesses, so we will eventually get a story if the matter goes to trial. We need a v-bet on whether any of these charges goes to trial before either a jury or judge.

Truest words I've read so far on this mess, from the Yahoo article:

unimaginably awful circumstances

Unfortunately, it has now become all too easy to imagine the circumstances given the news coverage and grand jury indictment. I can't imagine sleeping all that soundly for the foreseeable future. I seem to be praying continually for the mental health and physical health of all the young men who have been assaulted and scarred.

Yahoo will get to the bottom of this. They are the most independent sports journalists these days.

LOL - I can see it right now at the PSU offices...

"Hey, the police is in the hallway."

"Tell em to wait."

"The attorney general's office is on line one."

"They can hold."

"Yahoo Sports just sent us an email requesting information."

"OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT OH SHIT !!!"

One last comment: I thank God that I've never been confronted with what McQueary saw, nor what Paterno and the other PSU brass were told. Praying it never happens.

God help all those who have been victimized.

Joe Pa is PSU he had the power to do anything he wanted ..he could have at the least confronted Sandusky..if he had maybe because of Sandusky's respect for Joe Pa this would have stopped..but he did as little as possible..WHY? Joe answer the ? Fuck due process..just answer Why you didn't do more..Joe you are not the victim that PSU idiots are trying to paint you as..You are culpable in not putting a child rapist out of commission..Curley's attorney has took spin to a level I didn't think was possible..The evidence here is overwhelming..yet heads are still in the sand..Someone in authority at PSU must speak for the Boys who, were raped , not covering for Joe Pa and others. There will be a time to rebuild the program, now is not that time. My empathy is for the victims and their families and the PSU players who have been put in a terrible situation by the man they call Coach..

Perhaps He should've helped them at the time?

Let's leave Him out of this please.

I still don't get why nothing was done.

Shortly after I was married, back in 1999 or 2000, I visited my wife's family in a small town in western Ohio. Her family, including her hard ass redneck uncles, were placing her nephew, at maybe 6 years old, on a snowmobile. He was wailing and crying and didn't want to do it. I shoved her family, whom I had just met, aside and grabbed the kid and took him away and told nobody to come near us.

That was a freaking snowmobile. And I'm not exactly a strong person.

How the hell did this guy not stop what was happening? I understand shock. But jesus, you are on a football staff. He had the strength and had been taught to have strength. This just confounds me.

Second Mile couldn't have been a better recruiting ground for a pedophile. I suspect it will be getting sued as well.
