Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

The PSU BoT should seriously consider shutting down the football program for a couple years. There aren't many things that can be salvaged from this situation regarding the football program, but this would at least go a little way in restoring a small amount of trust and credibility and get away from this cult of personality that apparently has so infected the decision makers' actions in this case.

And yes, I would be saying this if it were to happen at TOSU. This is not a 'sports' story...

Other than the absolute heinous nature of the crimes we're talking about--probably the worst thing short of murder.

Other than the 40 count indictment by the state of Pennsylvania.

Other than pages of under oath grand jury testimony, including by McQueary and Paterno.

Other than the arrest of Sandusky and indictment of Schultz and Curley.

Other than the well documented timeline showing that PSU officials knew that Sandusky was a danger to children.

Other than all that....yeah! Pretty much exactly the fucking same.

Well, nobody at Penn State got tattoos, so they won't be punished by the NCAA. Five games for selling a couple hundred dollars of personal property earned in the service of the University, but harbor a pedophile for a decade ... nothing we can do about that. :smash:

I really expect we are going to see JoePa go into full epic melt down mode at some point.

Anyone remember his road rage incident a few years ago?

They (BoT) should contact the NCAA and ask for their help in the following ways. They should say they are firing the entire football program, along with anyone above them (the AD, who is already gone, and the entire AD staff). They should volunteer to shut the football program down right now and forfeit the rest of their remaining games this season if the NCAA is willing to grant the ability of players to transfer and a) play immediately, and b) recoup the extra year of eligibility, since they will lose 1/4 of the season this year through no fault of their own. Otherwise they should honor academically scholarships for the duration of their stay if they are close to graduation. They should ask for any administrative support required to keep their non-revenue sports going in the meantime while they search for a new AD and athletic staff, since the riflelry and volleyball teams, etc. had nothing to do with any of this. They will remain in the B1G for all other sports, forfeit their ability to play football in 2012, and then start fresh with an entirely new staff and structure in 2013, with judgement coming in 2014 or 2015 as to whether they can field a B1G program going forward or whether they should become and Independent in football again if not. Radical changes are necessary.

EXACTLY! I guess I see everyone's point that this is NOT an NCAA issue. I get it. But, step back and put the events into perspective. Tattoos are the ant standing next to the Empire State Building that has become Sandusky and Penn State! You can't say this isn't related to the football program. This all happened BECAUSE of the football program. It was enabled BECAUSE of the football program. It was covered up BECAUSE of the football program. Burn them all.
