Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

ESPN Films has contacted Joe Pesci to play JoePa in the upcoming film adaptation for the network.

OK I totally made that up but you know they're thinking it.

I know you are (half) joking, but this has all the makings of a 30 for 30 for the ages when it is all said and done.

Maybe PSU truly is a joke of an institution:

He became the head coach in 1966, and he has been widely credited with helping spearhead the Penn State football program and the rest of the university from a local enterprise into a national brand. Along the way, Beaver Stadium grew to 108,000 seats from 29,000 and Penn State?s endowment grew from virtually nothing to more than $1 billion.

Penn State Said to Be Planning Paterno's Exit Amid Scandal

Again, I'll give him credit for the growth of the football program but not the growth of the university or its endowment. Very, very few public universities--even the most prestigious flagships--had large private endowments and fundraising operations in 1966 or even through the seventies. When Ohio State completed its first mult-year campaign in the mid 80s, it set a record for public universities at $450M. Today, that's not much more than a good year for many public universities.

That Penn State built one up over the last 45 years (in fact, I'd venture a guess that the growth curve is highly skewed towards the last 20 years) is the natural progression that any public AAU university would have taken--including numerous ones that don't have successful football programs or iconic coaches there for the whole time.

JoePa's presence on campus during this period of endowment growth is not sufficient cause and effect to show that he caused it.

Love or Hate Penn State, you have to admit that this is a bad day for College Football :/ JoePa is a legend and an Icon and it sucks that his regime will have to end like this.
Again, I don't subscribe to this. He already had something of a checkered past prior to this mess and his continuous preaching of PSU as a beacon of college football is irony at its finest. He has no sympathy from me.

First Bob Ryan, George Vescey, then Hooley & Finebaum....it seems like every idiot who has an ax to grind is trying to use this story for their advantage.

Where am I going with this?

Oh yeah Rush Limbaugh has opened his mouth...

Joe Paterno and the Degradation of American Culture

No I'm not quoting the turd so you'll have to go to the link if you want to see the transcript. The short version is..."it's all the media's fault".

I agree. I think it would be much worse for him to ride off into the sunset with a false legacy as Mr. Integrity. There is nothing sad about how he's leaving. My sadness and pity are reserved for victims 1-8 and the countless others that might be out there.

Danny Sheridan, the idiot that said that Auburn and sCAM are crooked (duh) just told Slimebaum he wasn't going to comment on the Joe Pa situation.

A story so radioactive that Sheridan doesn't want to join SlimeBaum? Wow....

A lot of talk in here about Joe Paterno and how much of a dirt bag all of these people are who "passed it up the food chain" and then looked the other way. Let's not forget who the real shit face is here... SANDUSKY. He's the sick fuck that created this mess. Maybe he'll do the world a favor and stick a bullet in his own head.

To be sure, there's a certain place in hell for Sandusky. But I'm not convinced he who sees such an act and essentially does nothing is much better.

Interesting that Rush would feel it necessary to chime in in this manner considering that similar rumors have swirled around him and his viagra fueled trips to The Dominican Republic for years.

Just a thought, but for those of you wondering about possible NCAA sanctions, seeing as how these heinous crimes took place within the walls of the PSU football facility, could they not be hit with Lack of Institutional Control? I mean, if they can't control what goes on inside their own facility, what CAN they control?
