No. He was only obligated to tell his superiors that there were people on his lawn.

Penn State scandal makes me question my role in glorifying the culture of big-time college football. We all need to look in the mirror.

Maybe PSU truly is a joke of an institution:ORD_Buckeye;2030356; said:In football, sure. As a university, absolutely not. As I repeated during our own trial by fire this past year, the university is bigger than anyone or anything to do with its football program. We proved that in letting Woody go, and we proved that in letting JT go.
If Penn State is incapable of proving that in the case of JoePa, then they truly are a joke of an institution....and in this particular case, a very sick and tragic joke of an institution.
He became the head coach in 1966, and he has been widely credited with helping spearhead the Penn State football program and the rest of the university from a local enterprise into a national brand. Along the way, Beaver Stadium grew to 108,000 seats from 29,000 and Penn State?s endowment grew from virtually nothing to more than $1 billion.

Stagg family may have issues with Paterno scandal

Amos Alonzo Stagg?s name being attached to the Big Ten football championship trophy may have to be reevaluated if Joe Paterno is found to be "complicit" in the Jerry Sandusky scandal according to Stagg's great grandson.
The hardware for the first Big Ten championship game next month -- the Stagg-Paterno Championship Trophy ? has yet to be presented. But Robert Stagg told CBSSports.com on Tuesday that he is concerned about the family's association if "more disturbing evidence," is found in the case that has captured national headlines.
"If he [Paterno] has been complicit in this, he's got to step down," said Stagg, a 54-year-old father working in sales in Grand Rapids, Mich. "Unfortunately that would be the case...

You know, part of me says I should feel bad for him in that situation, but no. Never. He largely used the media to spread his now-fictitious message of nobility and "The Grand Experiment" (and what a joke that is now). You can't have it both ways. When you enable a monster like this and allow him to see the light of day, you should be crucified by the public and the media. And he will be.Dryden;2030498; said:Video of the mob rushing Joe Pa like he's Lindsay Lohan.

Between Joe Paterno being a hold-over from an era long past and the lack of any national media in BFE, PA, one of the reasons JoePa has been able to skate his way Weekend At Bernie's-style past press conference 10 years after it appeared he was already dead was the softball questions he got lobbed because everyone had a good old time ribbing the octogenarian.
That's all over. JoePa will be crucified whenever this press conference takes place. These aren't undergrads writing for the student newspaper, these are trained sharks, and they want blood.
