Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

There is no honor, Joe Paterno, as all this swirls around you and your program, in putting your head down and trying to beat Nebraska this weekend. It is meaningless and empty. I can see the story now, the team rallying around their beleaguered coach to win the big game against their rival.
I'm sickened by the thought of that inevitable narrative.
The curtain is down on your tenure, JoePa.
Turn out the lights.
Go home.
Be thankful you're not going to jail.

This is the gist of the national reaction to the story. It's done, Joe. Over.

Lots of speculation from local press here in Nebraska that Saturday's game may be forfeited by Penn State. I cannot imagine that happening.

I don't think they'll forfeit, but they may end up with Ron Vanderlinden and 2 assistants coaching the game, because that's all that might be left.

Imagine being a former player, you probably helped steer kids to go play there, and you find out this [Mark May] was going on? [censored]ed off wouldn't begin to cover it.

It's a little worse than just an association with the school--Millen was involved with the 2nd Mile organization, too.

ad nauseum, as it were.

One statement from the above articles does take on new meaning:

Sandusky will be roasted and remembered at a testimonial dinner June 26 in the Holiday Inn Conference Center, Fogelsville. Millen, never known to pull a punch as a football player or a pro football analyst for Fox, will be the master of ceremonies.

Roasted...now there's a thought...

And forfeit how much revenue? Not a chance.

He could still be gone by the end of the day. If the trustees feel as much of the public does, he should not be afforded the privilege of coaching his last home game.

A part of me wants the old bag to stick around until the OSU game and watch our boys kick the crap out of his team, but that is not the main point here in this tragic story.

Was actually thinking of something you said a while back about pre internet, zillions of Media outlets and East Coast Media bias. It's a double edged sword, and Penn State is getting it with both barrels, when the Washington Post and the NYT are all over you with many multiples of articles and Op-Eds, life isn't fun.

This has spilled not only into national main stream media, but, even into the wonk punditry. Won't link them here, so as not to do Poli Baord Spillover (but this thread could be in any forum now, well, preferebly not the RR and well, the Paint Chip board probably already has a clown suit cleaning tips thread) but, if anyone wants, check out Eugene Robinson and Jennifer Rubin's columns in the Washington Post today. The Latter is calling to end the Penn State football program completly (I'm not endorsing an opinion from either, it's just a good indicator on the depth of this)

Meanwhile, the Front Page of the Harrisburg Patriot News had a full, Front Page Editorial calling for the removal of both Spanier and Paterno. (Obviously there's good reason to beleive that will happen, but, the reverberations are being felt in the capitol and will be for a long time to come.) Link to that Op-Ed here.http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/11/our_view.html
