That's pretty much how I've been after lower body workouts the last few times. I usually can't make it all the way through because my heart starts pounding and I get really light headed and stupid. Today I sat back on my recliner for an hour afterward, I didn't even want to get up to piss, I held it. I went hiking a few hours later and i felt like I was wearing lead boots. I did some research *cough googling* and I found it's fairly common. One thing I need to work on is proper breathing. I just need to slow down, concentrate on form and breathing and this will get not only easier but also more efficient. I work pretty hard when I do upper body but I never get like this. This is the third time that I thought that I was going to have a heart attack after doing lower body.

While I love to go to the gym,it is a respite from everything going on, there are points in life where you get too busy. You can do a number of these even when you travel. Check out the body weight exercises. You can do pullups, hindu push-ups and squats, dips, and an assortment of these types. Throw in a balance ball to change it up and increase the difficulty and you can do a complete workout. I am getting a bit older, well bit is interpretive, and I have found that doing these two or three times a week has made me stronger and somewhat more flexible. Throw in some cardio like swimming and/or eliptical (can't jog now-6 knee surgeries) and you have a pretty healthy workout. I am investigating yoga as well to calm the insanity lurking inside---LOL) I still love the gym to get away from the clan but this is good too. There is a site for the entire bodyweight series.

One week into the second phase of Insanity and it is brutal, but in a good way. I love how he has you do lots of different exercises in a three-minute period and then repeat. Everything is doable, however, some of the exercises I wonder how the hell he ever thought them up.

I did not lose any weight in the first month but I heard comments from people who said I looked thinner. I guess I was swapping belly fat for muscle as my pants were looser. Now the weight is starting to come off. Plus, I have more energy throughout the day. My legs are pretty sore today but I think that is a combination of the workout and weather.

That 1000kCal workout looks killer, I'm going to have to try it.

I remember when I was in the military, I'd been doing a lot of partying and we had a weigh in. I was like 2 lbs over my max so I was given two weeks to get under. I hit it pretty hard everyday, stairmaster, weights, raquetball, running and I ate mostly canned tuna, eggs, salad and drank water. After the two weeks I felt great, I lost quite a bit off of my waistline and was feeling pretty trim. I went to the weigh in and was surprised to find out that in that time despite all of that I was only 3 lbs under. I'd felt like that I'd lost 20 lbs but it was barely 5. My 1st Sgt did tell me though that I looked really well.

Last September, I started this step to a better quality of life after having a lengthy discussion with my Naturopath (who is the best physician I've ever had). At the time, I was simply going to do the P90x and let that jump start me. In October, Dryden directed me to some information and websites. The most dominant of which was marksdailyapple.com and what Mark Sisson has to share in general. The remaining 2 1/2 months of the P90x was additionally a transition to Primal eating. I ended P90x at around 164 lbs (5'9" frame). The weight was the only metric I had at the time. I decided at the end of the P90x that I wanted something more sustainable, and I transitioned to the Primal Blueprint Fitness (push-ups, pull/chin-ups, handstand pushups, squats, and plank). I decided this after not wanting to spend the money on CrossFit nor was I looking for something so intense. I've stayed true (80/20 rule) since last September.

I weighed myself last night and I was 165 lbs again.

For those unaware, the VAP test is more thorough and I'm not presenting all the data. In the words of my Naturopath, "You were fine beforehand, and you have improved." I find it interesting that my readings are elevated in the good and the bad, but because the Size Pattern came back on the A/B level (very close to A on the diagram) my physician was quite pleased which makes me quite pleased.

I should also note that I now can do a number of handstand push-ups and pull/chin-ups. I can play with my kiddos and I'm feeling good about my lot in life.

In the near future, I'll probably be getting a body fat test performed. I'll share the results when that happens.
I just got my results from my blood work from my last physical.

Triglycerides-71

I'm not sure how to interpret these but Doc says I'm fine.

I'm sure most are aware but when working out to lose weight and gain muscle you should use a body fat calibrator as opposed to a scale.

I've heard that the military has switched to that. Back when I was in they went strictly by weight no matter how much body fat you had. I knew guys that had skinny arms and legs but big pot bellies who passed while guys that had some muscle on them were always being harassed for being borderline overweight.

Exactly, when I first started working out my weight actually stayed the same and then went up while my BF went down. Granted I wasn't cutting, but many people fall in love with the scale as their sign of improvement and get frustrated.

I monitor my weight but mostly to make sure that I'm not losing too much weight. I lost 16 pounds in 5 days after my jaw surgery but I've gained 5 back, I use my weight to determine how many calories I need for the day. I'm trying for between 2,500-3,000 right now and I'm still struggling to keep weight on.

Well you are in a different situation than those who start working out because they are unhappy with their aesthetics. I am actually the same way now and if it's not spring/summer and I'm cutting, I am looking to put on weight.
