Diet-Fitness-General Wellness Your Thoughts?

Is it enjoyable to train in KM? Or is it too brutal to want to go back?

Yeah, love it... but that's after 17+ years of rugby which does beat you down unnecessarily. Krav's not too bad. For the most part you're hitting pads. Muscle soreness from punching and core work.

I definitely have, Dub. I've always had issues with hypoglycemia. Given that you were on a fast, that would be my guess as to what the problem was.
Thanks, it got kind of scary because my heart was racing for a while afterward, I was starting to freak a bit. It was kind of lucky that it was an hour before my annual physical because my doctor was able to confirm that I was just fine and wasn't going t die (at least not that day).

One more thing I wanted to add here. I had a physical today and it wasn't until afternoon so I had to fast all day. I was still allowed coffee, tea and water but like an idiot I drank mostly coffee. I worked out around noon, did abs and started legs with my lifts and squats. I did the lifts and squats consecutively without resting. At the end of the first set I was very lightheaded. I rested a bit and then did lunges. Same thing, got lightheaded and had to sit back down. I started another set of squats and lifts and could feel myself getting light headed so I stopped. It took me a while to get to feeling right, in fact at the doctors office I was still kind of tripping out from being so lightheaded. My blood pressure was 128/80 and he said my heart sounded great so it wasn't a heart problem. I'm thinking maybe I had some dehydration with a touch of acid reflux working there because i really felt like crap. Anyone else ever get really lightheaded to the point that you have to terminate your workout?
In case you're all wondering, yes, he made me sing "Moon River".

If you are going to work out fasted I would recommend some BCAA's and yeah make sure you are hydrated. I have never got lightheaded when fasting for 14-18 hours.

There is absolutely no need to fast any more. Cut out the bread and sugar and the weight will come off quickly. (South Beach Diet)

Actually, there are quite a few benefits to intermittent fasting. The largest of which, for me, is insulin sensitivity. Just helps my body stay on top of that.

The last couple of weeks I've been fasting from 8pm until around noon or 1pm. I don't know if it benefits me, it's just how my eating pattern has evolved, I've been skipping breakfast lately.

From my understanding, occasional fasting is good. But missing the morning hurts your metabolism rate. Eating something in the morning helps your metabolism get started again instead of staying in fat storage or "hibernation" mode. Even drinking a protein shake or drinking alot of water in conjunction with some fruit can get your body going. Not eating after 6-7 is a good practice due to the fact that you may store some of the food you ate before bed. All in all though, eating a extremely low amount of calories slows your metabolism as well.

Obviously exercise is important because it trains your body as to how you use the energy(calories) you are putting in it. It adapts to what you do daily. So the more you work out(times a week), the more it learns that you are using that energy on a regular basis and doesn't try to store it. That is why programs like P90X work because they have you doing something everyday and it is at an increased rate.

I'd personally recommend trying hard to not let your body learn to store the calories that you are eating. Whatever that may entail. Eating breakfast is big in that process.

Same here. No appetite.

Understood. However, there's also the train of thought that having breakfast on a regular basis causes your body to prematurely wake-up in anticipation of the pending eating. There are positives and negatives to the courses that people take in consumption. For me, I eat when I want to eat and don't when it's not warranted. Just feels right.

Totally understood. Everyone has a different makeup. I can only go off the research I have done and the ways that things changed for me. I used to skip breakfast all the time. I can't do it anymore or I wont eat enough and it hurts me in the long run.

Edit- and I am usually hungry in the morning when I stop eating at the right time at night.

When I have a big protein dinner with burgers, veggies & salad, I'm rarely hungry before 10-11 am. Before I started paleo I was usually extremely hungry in the morning.

There's also the matter of shifting the fast. If you fast from dinner (6 pm) to breakfast (7-8 am), that's really not much different than fasting from 9-10 pm to 11-12 the next morning.

I can imagine. If you're still sticking with the P90x, then you're pulling in a lot more exercise than I am during the week as well. Your body will need more food.

True. Typically, I'm done eating by 6 pm. I then go to work and I'll have a coffee or two with heavy cream. Then I'll eat lunch at noon. If I need something in the meantime, then I have almonds at work. I just don't require the same amount of food as I used to. Plus, the intermittent fasting helps me feel better as it helps the body take care of the little infractions I digest periodically.

Yeah I was always eating during P90... I had a tattoo done and laser vision correction. I didn't want to get sweat in my eyes on multiple occasions(I am not even supposed to swim for another week or so). And the tattoo broke up my routine so I am about to get going on some interval training and weight training on the days between. I learned alot about my body doing P90 and I know how to get my body to react now. I haven't digressed much either which is surprisingly nice seeing that I have had about a month and a half off of normal workouts. I believe I will get cut out quick when I get back on the horse on Monday.
