Did Peyton Manning "DESERVE" a SB Victory?

Everyone knows people who say that the legends who never won it all "deserved to win one". i.e. Dan Marino or Charles Barkley. Do you agree with this concept?

What's your thoughts on this? Sometimes it drives me crazy. I say, if they "deserve" it, then they'll get it afterall.

Regardless, I'm happy for Peyton and the Colts. He is a very positive image for the NFL and I love watching him run the audible show at the line of scrimmage.

I vote no . Marino didn't either because he never played well enough to win one. That is the deciding factor. If Manning deserves one it is because he and his team play well enough to win it. Of course having Grossman on the other team helped a lot.

I just hear that too often. Like I mentioned before, Marino and Barkley come to mind first, but then there's Malone/Stockton...oh, it's too late to think hard, but a LOT of people say that where I'm from.

"So and so deserves one". Get outta' here. If they do, they'll win it. I think any true sports fan would respond as such...but then again, I know about 20 fans who say that.

I am of the school that says no one deserves anything just for longevity. The only way to "deserve " it is to win it.

Sure he deserves the Super Bowl, hes carried this team all year and it pays off for him. Now everyone can shut up about Manning deserving his Super Bowl Victory. Media can finally shut up and get over Manning.

Now for MVP, hell no. Manning carried his team in the season but the MVP is for the MVP of the Super Bowl, not the season. Rhodes had a far better game than Manning, i just didnt get that.

Rhodes definitely had a great game and after the game I felt like it was either his or Peyton's for MVP. I'd have to say it was a toss up. Manning was 25-of-38 for 247 against that Bears defense in those conditions and quite a few dropped passes. I felt Rhodes deserved it too but Manning had a great game. Congrats Colts!!!!

I do root for certain players to win one before they retire, but no one deserves anything their team doesn't earn.

Very unusual thread (rep)... after reading the title I was expecting more of the following response:

Fuck Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning didn't deserve the MVP.

I must be in the wrong thread, I thought the question was whether Manning desrved a Super Bowl victory.

To me, thats real easy. Uh, yes. He was the quarterback of the team that won in pretty convincing fashion. As far as MVP goes, I didn't see that part in the title, maybe I missed it.

I always laugh when idiots say that Karl Malone deserved a championship.

Maybe he would have if he learned how to make free throws in the finals and how to avoid getting the ball stripped in the closing minutes of games. :roll1:

Maybe for some people the thread would have been better titled, "Do veteran superstars deserve championships?"...but Peyton won one tonight and it made me think of him specifically and how people all around me kept saying he deserved one because he's been SO close SO many times.

I too root for some of the legends to win one before they head out, but then again, if they don't, then such is life. Another classic example: Jim Kelly.
