If you are a member of a championship team, you deserve to win. Winning a championship is about ALL the members of a team (college or NFL-you can coast in HS) coming together and doing what is necessary to win all the games. This is true for Peyton Manning, Drew Bledsoe, Bob Sanders, Jerome Bettis, Max McGee, John Stallworth,Larry Brown, Leon Lett, etc. The Lombardi Trophy is about a TEAM coming together and doing what it has to do to win a championship. It is not about a superstar or a scrub playing up or down to the perceived level of their value-that is what the Pro Bowl and contract negotiations are about. Look at the facts-Ben Hartsock and Brian Fletcher have more SuperBowl rings than Dan Marino-does anyone want to begrudge Ben his ring?

I vote no . Marino didn't either because he never played well enough to win one. That is the deciding factor. If Manning deserves one it is because he and his team play well enough to win it.

Everyone knows people who say that the legends who never won it all "deserved to win one". i.e. Dan Marino or Charles Barkley. Do you agree with this concept? .

the question is " if a person never won one did they deserve one" no matter how long they played. My answer was they have to win it , not get one just because they played a long time.

No, because he's actually a dipshit. Manning went 25 of 38 and almost 250 yards in a steady rain against one of best defenses in the NFL. Tell me, how could he have not deserved a win. What Marino did (as brought up by Monsignor dipshit) 22 years ago is irrelevant.

This hypothetical is about what Manning (& Marino) deserved for being "close'... much like is said about Karl Malone (tibor's current whipping boy).

I agree completely with Best Buckeye. Marino & Manning deserve nothing for being close. They deserve what they earn on the field, which Manning did today.
