Did Peyton Manning "DESERVE" a SB Victory?

So the guy is wrong about his own thread?

Good night, Josh...
Yes, according to you, he is.

I'm asking you to read his own clarification of what the thread is about... whether veterans deserve championships for being close. It has nothing to do with the box score tonight.

The thread title is incomplete... "Did Peyton Manning "DESERVE" a SB Victory... b/c he came so close so many other times?

So in other words, whether or not he "deserved" the win tonight is based on his longevity? I watched the game. No player on the field played better than Manning, from start to finish.

Ah, confusion. :p

I'd say playing well over time - becoming a "legend" - doesn't mean you "deserve" a championship if you haven't won one. When the clock hits 0:00 in the fourth quarter of the championship game, that's when you find out who deserved it. But I'd usually root for someone with an otherwise stellar career to win the big one at some point.

Today Manning deserved it... but for his play today, not for career play.

No... you've got that backwards... which is understandable (the thread title is misleading, and incomplete).

CB6 wanted to know "Did Peyton Manning "DESERVE" a SB Victory... b/c he came so close so many other times?

No. Nobody deserves a title ring b/c of longevity, not marino, not manning, not malone.

I am of the school that says no one deserves anything just for longevity. The only way to "deserve " it is to win it.
Which Peyton did tonight.

Yes, Manning deserved it. And not just because he played well in the actual game.

I believe QB's should be valued for their passing efficiency rating and their winning percentage. Just throwing for a lot af yards doesn't make a great QB. Manning has been very solid in both of those categories for years.

Someone else who 'deserved' it without winning one was Jim Kelly. He played in 4, and once lost because Norwood missed a game-winning FG. Kelly played well enough to win that one.

As far as Malone, Barkley, Ewing et al - screw 'em. Of course, I'm from Chicago. :wink2:
