Decanonized Mythologized Disgraced Ped State Monster Coach Joe Paterno (Zombie Icon)

He says he is not concerned about the number of wins he has; but I don't believe that at all. I look for him to try to stick around at least 2 more years (toal of more 15 wins) to pass Eddie Robinson:

*1. John Gagliardi, Carroll College/St. John's University (1949-2009): 471-126-11
2. Eddie Robinson, Grambling State (1941-1997): 408-168-15
*3. Joe Paterno, Penn State (1966-2009): 394-129-3
4.
Bobby Bowden, Samford/West Virginia/Florida State (1959-2009): 377-129-4
5. Amos Alonzo Stagg, Springfield College/Chicago/Pacific (1892-1946): 329-190-
35
6. Paul W. "Bear" Bryant, Maryland/Kentucky/Texas A&M/Alabama (1945-1982): 323-85-17
7. Glenn Scobey "Pop" Warner, Georgia/Cornell/Carlisle/Pitt/Stanford/Temple (1895-1938): 318-106-32
8. Roy Kidd, Eastern Kentucky (1964-2002): 314-124-8
9. Forrest "Frosty" Westering, Parsons College/Lea College/Pacific Lutheran (1962-2003): 302-96-7
10 Harold R. "Tubby" Raymond, Delaware (1966-2001): 300-119-3

I finally caught up with the BTN preview for PSU with the JoPa interview.

I have been around a few years myself and have seen a lot of folks come and go. I have known a number of folks who were in the condition that JoPa appears to be in.

Two years is an awfully long time.

That's why I posted about the same thing a few days ago.
He's fading fast.
This should be his last year. For his sake, I'd hate to see a tragedy on the sidelines of a game or during practice next year.

Can you imagine a more perfectly appropriate place for JoePa to take his leave than during a game on the Penn State sidelines?
As opposed to what? In a sterile ICU hooked up to half-a-million $ worth of beeping machines? Or, toppling over his shopping cart
in the pharmacy aisle in Target? Or, lying alone on a cold bathroom floor?

I sometimes suspect he's planning on it. It would have a certain poetic symmetry.

He's seen what happens to other coaching legends when they got put out to pasture. He's seeing it again, right now, with Bobby Bowden. Bowden at one point caught, then passed JoPa as the winning-est coach ever. JoPa's obviously retaken the lead.

Another thing, now JoPa has to also outlive Bowden to complete the rivalry. Also the ratings will be through the roof if JoPa keels over on the sidelines during a nationally televised game, especially a major bowl. And since they aren't going to a major bowl this year, JoPa has to live at least one, maybe two more seasons. :wink2:

Penn State Football: Why Losing in 2010 is Different

8.) The fans are not fanatic.

The students get to home games late. Very late. They need to get their asses out of bed and into the stadium if they really want to be Kirk Herbstreit?s ?best student section in the nation? or ESPN?s ?nation?s No. 1 student section.?

They are getting complacent and are underperforming as much as the team.

The ?regular? fans are performing better than the kids, but Beaver Stadium has had no electricity, whether it?s Barbie State or Illinois.
screw Penn State, but especially screw their crappy fans, couldn't happen to a more idiotic group of people, and a real shocker that they have given up on their team already

They do it every year. The second they lose any game they decide to pretend like it's the worst team in the history of football so they don't have any more emotions attached for when they lose again. This continues until Ohio State week.....where they've convinced themselves they shouldn't win. That way, if they do they can be their typical asshole selves.....if they don't win, they weren't supposed to so NBD.
