He has a lot of work to do to reach his potential no matter where he goes, because right now he is an elite athlete who doesn’t dominate on the field the way he should.
If he chooses Ohio State I think he is much more likely to reach his potential, which is elite. If he chooses UM, that is less likely... see: Peppers and Gary. UMs two best recruits being described as raw and nowhere near their potential by NFL scouts is a humorous slam of UM’s development of players... so basically you waste three years at UM and are the same exact player you were in HS.
For Harrison, I believe
@jwinslow describes it as having a low floor (especially compared to other 5-star recruits) but a ceiling that is as high as it gets... but a lot of work to get there.
Obviously some people aren’t very subtle about being swayed by his likely destination, but it really isn’t that hard to be consistent with the evaluation here.
Edit: oh, and another thing- being drawn to Michigan in the first place is a bit of a red flag regarding work ethic, in my opinion. A country club culture of expected greatness without the work is the biggest thing holding their program back. It prevents their teams from being elite and it prevents their players from developing.
If he chooses Ohio State that is a smart decision, but Harrison will really need to buy in to the Marotti program.
