I think Vrabel eventually wants to be HC at tOSU. I this move just reinforces my perception that he went to the Texams for some experience that will help him on the job.

My novice opinion is that Vrabel to Houston will not prove to be a good move for Mike. Vrabel has a significant competitive advantage in college as a recruiter. He gives that up in the NFL. Right now, he can already claim he knows everything the NFL knows.

I have a hard time being upset about this. It's a great opportunity and it's thoroughly deserved. I think we're looking at Coach Meyer's eventual successor if he wants it, and that excites me about the long-term future more than his departure makes me anxious about the short-term future. He is on the fast track and he's gonna have an excellent coaching resume before long.

My thoughts as well. If we want him back later, he's got to get out there and get the experience. This is how you do it...

Check out Joey Bosa's comments after practice yesterday (I read them on the OZone) - when asked what the difference was between Coaches Vrabel and Johnson. The concept of being "positive, not negative" kept being repeated by JB.

We all love Mike V for what he did at Ohio State as a player, and we love him for coming back as a coach. It would seem that at least one guy he coached didn't share that love. It makes me wonder about whether we really know what/who the disconnect was on defense last year, and whether some staff changes I didn't think were related to solving the defense's woes, were really exactly that.
