DE/LB Thaddeus Gibson (official thread)

Got to like our chances in that three horse race...we have routinely been pounding on Michigan and Phat Phil didn't even make a bowl game this year. It looks more and more like what DL and a few others have been saying since the summer...if Gibson gets his grades in order, he will be a Buckeye.

I believe the only obstacle to Gibson not being a Buckeye is academics. Lets hope he gets a qualifying score and go from there but I am not holding my breath at this point. It is possible he will qualify but not probable in my opinion.

If it is certain that he needs a 17 on the ACT...that sounds like an achievable hurddle.

A 17 on the ACT equates to the 27th percentile.

Knowing this I feel better about his chances, even though I have no idea how he has scored on his previous efforts. Certainly he knows what is at stake and I hope that he had more time to prepare since football was done for the year.

Have any of his previous scores been mentioned? I didn't see them cruising thru this thread, but there are a lot of posts so I might have overlooked this info.

LJB, make sure that the place you got the info from did have it posted like this....

Oct 17 ACT retake

or something to the effect....because a 4.1 and a 17 on the ACT is almost impossible. Ususally a GPA in the 4's means the kid is in honors classes.

I got the info from today's BN update by Dave Biddle, and no, I did not mis-read the article.

4.1 GPA would indicate that one has taken honors classes. Someone with a 4.1 GPA that only scored 17 on the ACT is VERY strange. Honestly, very strange. Again though, GPA, test scores, class rank and school ratings. They all play a role. As far as the NCAA is concerned the 4.1 GPA along with the 17 is fine on the sliding scale. That's obvious. Admissions would have to raise an eyebrow on something like this. Heck anyone would raise an eyebrow! You would think that a 4.1 GPA would get you in with no questions asked though.:wink2:
