DB Malcolm Jenkins (All B1G, All-American, Thorpe Award, All-Pro, 2x Super Bowl Champion)

I'd have any scout with questions about Malcolm's ability (speed or otherwise) talk to Mark Sanchez and Colt McCoy about how it was like to throw (or not throw) to a guy that Malcolm was covering.

There was a reason why Colt picked on Chimdi during the Fiesta Bowl.

How many times, ever, does an NFL CB run 40 yards in a straight line to cover a WR? On a deep fly route? Twice a game, with safety help? .2 seconds in a straight line is not as big an area, yardage wise, as these tards try to make it out to be. What is .2, like a half-a-step? A whole yard and a half? If I was drafting a CB, I would want to make sure the other 2,315 NFL routes were covered before I worried about constantly getting beat deep. A QB has to be lucky to complete one of those deep flies a game.

Rubbish, I say! Maybe now the Browns can trade down for more picks, and take Malcolm and Beanie. :shake:

I hadn't really thought about it, but what if the Browns traget Malcolm, slide back a few spots, take Malcolm an dmaybe get some additional picks.

If Malcolm is there at 9, I think hes guaranteed to Green Bay. Maybe the Browns can entice 7 or 8 to move up.

lol You know what?

I hope Malcolm falls to a really nice situation. This is just a blessing in disguise. I hope he ends up at a great franchise with a winning record. I mean in the end, a 5 million dollar signing bonus difference is small relative to landing a great contract at a great team.

Very nice post. WAY too much emphasis is put on these "measureables" and not on whether or not the guy can play football. From a Browns standpoint, D'Qwell Jackson and Andra Davis both have nice measureables and are both very physically gifted. So how does that translate into success when we constantly watch them making tackles 7-8 yards downfield?

To me, the two most meaningless workouts these guys do at the Combine are the 40 and the Bench-Reps. Like schwab states, how often during the course of a game is a 40-yard straight line dash needed? Also, how often during the course of a game is it necessary to lay on your back and repeatedly push 225 pounds off of your chest?

Gimme football players, plain and simple.

Peace.

Pat White, Ian Johnson, Jason Smith improved at NFL combine - NFL - SI.com

Tony Pauline is doing a hell of a job trying to one-up Kiper and McShay. This guy's just an assclown.

Defensive Backs

HELPED: Morgan Trent/Michigan -- Bettering the expectations placed upon you by NFL scouts is part of the game at the combine and Trent did a complete job of that on the final day. He was faster, stronger and more athletic than scouts ever thought. The feeling is Trent can play either cornerback or safety, a versatility you cannot place a price on in the age of salary cap football. Trent was a fringe top 100 choice after the season but his Senior Bowl and combine performances have pushed him into the draft's initial 60 picks.
HURT: Malcolm Jenkins/Ohio State -- Jenkins' story has been beaten like a dead horse since it first broke on SI.com. He can still be a quality player in the NFL but the facts are defensive backs who run 4.55 seconds in the 40 don't get selected in the draft's top eight selections, as many thought Jenkins would before the combine began.

There is no way the bills take MJ. There is no need right now and the bills have plenty of bigger problems.
Agreed, we just took a corner last year. We'd better not take another one this year, at least not in the 1st round, there's too many other needs like TE or defensive end where we were atrocious at getting a pass rush last year after Schobel went down.
