DB Malcolm Jenkins (All B1G, All-American, Thorpe Award, All-Pro, 2x Super Bowl Champion)

FWIW after the workout Malcolm said he might not run the 40 again at his Pro Day.

Anyone else hear this?

I would be shocked. He might want to go back and check AJ Hawk (low 4.4s) and Roy Hall's (4.35) forty times on the Ohio State track.

It'd be in his best interest, not that it should matter, but it does to NFL officials comparing relatively similar prospects...unless he's content with being drafted at safety.

I think Malcolm is a "feel" player and just understands the game on a level most don't see.

He is an amazing tackler, he understands schemes incredibly well, and he blankets receivers 99.9% of the time.

GM's with any understanding of the game know this. Leave it to ass-hats like Tood McShay to question Malcolm and Beanie's 40 times, while the entire field struggled on the same track.

It is what it is. PFT is dissing Beanie and Malcolm. ESPN is definately dissing Beanie, Malcolm, and all Buckeyes by saying the biggest disappointment of the combine was Ohio State players.

It's pandering to a casual sports fan who has no idea how bad the 40 times have been all week. Does your casual fan know that the top CB 40 time was a 4.46? I doubt it.

Oh well.....Malcolm WILL BE taken in the top 10, and we can look forward to McShay asking whether or not that team has taken him as a corner or safety and whether Malcolm has enough speed to play corner in the NFL. It is an absolute joke. I get upset at myself for even being interested in what the analysts have to say.

Well as I predicted a buckeye happened to make it to McAssHat's poor performances for the combine. It happened to be malcom who supposively ran slow in the 40, and because of which proves he's not a man to man corner. SO he say's about time for Malcom to switch to Saftey.

Malcom, while not burning the track did well enough. The TRACK IS SLOW it's just not one player, but in all seriousness how the hell is an OSU player/team always displayed so poorly on ESPN? It's just commical!

Someone else is watching ESPN. Did someone else also respond to that little segment by "Todd McShay needs to not be on this earth any longer"? :p

He (Davis) was fast Tuesday and clocked both of his 40-yard-dashes in the mid 4.3-second range.

Yeah, except that you're an idiot.

His (Malcolm) initial 40 was as slow as 4.59 seconds on some watches

Some watches? Who fucking cares? How about the official time?

Morgan Trent/DB/Michigan: Trent exceeded expectations in every way. He measured 6-foot, 193 pounds and completed 23 reps on the bench. He ran his 40's in the very low 4.4-second range, which quelled the concern scouts had about his pure speed. Trent then put on a show in drills, displaying some of the best defensive back fundamentals of the day. He's a high-quality person which compliments his physical skills and Trent made a big jump up draft boards.

Watch film. You will not care what he does in a workout.

Jenkins pitching self as cornerback Speed could dictate if he ends up playing free safety
By Marla Ridenour

INDIANAPOLIS: On Sunday, Ohio State cornerback Malcolm Jenkins wondered how the talk of his playing free safety in the NFL got started.
After his workout Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, that might be all he heard.
Jenkins' unofficial 40-yard dash times of between 4.52 and 4.59 seconds reported by SI.com fueled speculation that the 2008 Jim Thorpe Award winner would slip in the first round of the April 25-26 NFL Draft and might have to change positions.
Considered a possible top 10 pick before the combine, which concluded at Lucas Oil Field, Jenkins will almost certainly run again at Ohio State's pro day on March 13. None of the defensive backs' 40 times was blazing, with only six running 4.5 seconds or better. The top cornerbacks, Lardarius Webb of Nicholls State and Vontae Davis of Illinois, were officially clocked at 4.46 and 4.49, respectively. Chris Clemons of Clemson led safeties with a 4.41.

Combine casualty? Analysts claim Ohio State's Malcolm Jenkins disappoints in workout

Michael Conroy/Associated PressOhio State's Malcolm Jenkins dropped a few passes during this skill test during Tuesday's Combine workout in Indianapolis. Jenkins' performance may damage his chances of being among the first 10 names announced on draft day, said observers.
CLEVELAND -- Ohio State cornerback Malcolm Jenkins may have cost himself a top 10 spot in the NFL draft with a disappointing 40-time and sub-par ball drills at Scouting Combine Tuesday. He may have also revealed himself as a safety instead of the shutdown cornerback he wants to be.
Jenkins, mentioned as a possible selection of the Browns at No. 5, ran unofficial times of between 4.53 and 4.58 at Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium. He also dropped some passes in the ball drills, prompting Deion Sanders of the NFL Network to proclaim that Jenkins and a couple of the other DBs were "killing themselves."
Fellow NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock concluded that "the damage has been done" with the underwhelming 40.
"His value will be affected by his time, like it or not," said Mayock. "But there's a lot of good tape on him and a lot of Cover 2 teams are going to love him at corner."

Or perhaps at another position.
"Some people think day one he's a Pro Bowl free safety," said Mayock. "He's got the size and the strength and the physicality to play the position."
Most of the analysts were more concerned about Jenkins' shaky performance in the ball drills.
"He kind of followed up [the 40 time] with an average at best -- and probably not even average -- performance for his skill-set," said Mayock.
Sanders said the 40 was almost understandable because "some of these guys are a little nervous and stiff, but the ball drills show everything because the game is played on the football field."
Rob Rang, analyst for nfldraftscout.com, said Jenkins -- who intercepted 11 passes over the last three years -- may have let his disappointment over the 40 time spill over into the drills.

McShay isn't the only one talking about him moving to safety, they were talking about it on NFL Network and that teams are also discussing it. But Mike Mayock on NFL Net did say he thinks if he gets moved to free safety he could be a Pro Bowl player his rookie year, that's pretty high praise.
