Dayton Flyers (Official Thread)

I agree, with the sole caveat that if Dayton drops the ball in the first round of the A-10 tourney, there is an outside shot that they get shut out of the dance--the committee may not look very favorably upon a 7-5 record to close the season in a conference of the caliber of the A-10.

Right... Which is why the team feels they don't want to chance it... Get this win on Thursday night and they should remove any doubts...

What I'd really love to see is a run to the A-10 title... That could push us out of that 8/9 projection which I'd hate to see us in... I'd like to get to a 6 or 7, which we could do with an A-10 championship win over Xavier...

Richmond vs. Dayton at 9:00 tonight.

In thier only game of the year when they played in Dayton, it was close in the first half, and then Dayton pulled away in the second half, but Richmond hung around to at least keep it somewhat close at the end. Should be a pretty good game, definitely not a slam dunk for the Flyers. Flyers could be in trouble with injuries. Lowery is obviously out, but now Stephen Thomas..his backup also is hurt and may miss the game. If he can't go, London Warren will be the only true PG that will go. He will need to step up big either way. I feel like as he goes, the team goes, in this one at least. Hope Thomas is ok.

Pretty good performance from the Flyers... It kills me that when it seems one part of their game is clicking, another slumps. Tonight, the free throw shooting was awful.. Got to improve on that going into tomorrow.

When doesn't the free throw shooting suck? They are worse than UConn when it comes to that. Got lucky getting Ducousnesesusese instead of Rhode Island...cuz both are gonna raise the good old RPI, which is sitting at 22 right now...but I think we have a much better chance against the Dukes than we would againt the Rams. I am hoping for a final against Xavier...but if we get to the final and play Temple, that would be a much easier game...we'd match up well there. Last time Dayton won the A10 tourney, they beat Temple in the final. They never seem to beat Xavier in the A10 tourney.

I guess you didn't see Ohio State's free-throw shooting in the first half of the Illinois game. I think if we would have shot 70% in the first half alone it might not have been a very close game. Thank goodness Turner can shoot free throws along with Simmons because Dallas certainly is struggling.

Being 80th in RPI, and 259th in OOC SOS doesn't sound very "safe" to me. Xavier is 24th and 18th, respectively, by comparison.

Not too sure where you get your numbers from, but Dayton is sitting just fine at 27th not 80th. Nice try though!

EDIT: Their SOS is 84th also, if you don't have ESPN Insider. (1 behind Butler)

I wasn't trying anything. Whether Dayton gets in or not doesn't matter to me.

I guess it depends on who you ask.

The Flyers make it FIVE teams from Ohio (and none of them are named Cincinnati or Fredo).

I'd love to see them upset Huggy Bear in the first round.

Not going to happen,IMO. I like the Flyers, but WVU is a darn good team-much better than FSU,Illinois, or Purdue. UD is hurting for backcourt depth w/ Lowry and Thomas hurt-although Thomas might be back, and WVU is just more experienced and better shooters.
