Good lord... The Ref puts up the Safety signal, and Summeral's talking about how it could be a safety or a TD....

I think it's a travesty.

Instead pass attempt on 1st down gives up the 2-point insult.
I don't consider it a gimmick offense in the slightest. All I see is Mike Leacah doing an excellent job of attempting to get the ball to his playmakers in space, spreading the field with all of the WR's as well as confusing the defense with the different variations in routes. Thats just putting your team in the best position to win, good coaching.Buckeyeskickbuttocks;1369356; said:Well, let's see....
Players lined up in a manner inconsistent with virtually every other team on the planet? Check (O-Line gaps)
One player makes or breaks the team's chances? Check (See QB)
Lopsided talent towards gimmick and not other areas? Check (See O production v. lack of defense)
Small school who "can't compete" with instate powerhouse(s)? Check. (See Texas)
Ever see Tech run the power I?
No?
Didn't think so.

The lopsided talent difference between the O and the D really doesn't factor into it being gimmicky, just means that they don't recruit well on the defensive side of the ball.
I guess you can pretty much label any spread offense or any offense that doesn't run the power I, or any team that doesn't play defense well as a gimmicky offense under those terms.
