Day 5 zero symptoms, son hasn't had symptoms, both tested today and had anitbody test as well. Should get nasal swab back tomorrow and antibody results Friday. Three others that were near the same person tested negative and received their results today.

My son is going off to play D3 football this fall, or we thought. The conference his team plays in announced two days ago they were preceding but only playing conference games, non-conference were cancelled. Today, two of the nine schools in the conference announced they are not playing this fall.

It does not look good for football this fall IMHO.

Best of luck with your test results. I hope you guys FAIL the hell out of it, if you know what I mean. Unfortunately my son and I "passed" ours. Things are goofy as crap and with the Ivy League cancelling their season I'm afraid alot of smaller school Conferences will do the same. Hopefully things get back to normal soon and your son can get to enjoy college and playing ball as well. Best of luck to you and your family.

Peace

Herd Immunity starting to look like not possible with Covid.

Covid-19 antibodies in Spain’s population “are insufficient to provide herd immunity,” a new study has claimed, despite the country being one of the worst-affected by the pandemic.

In a peer-reviewed paper published in the Lancet medical journal Monday, researchers from Harvard, MIT and several Spanish institutions analyzed findings from a widescale study on antibody prevalence in Spain.

“Despite the high impact of Covid-19 in Spain, prevalence estimates remain low and are clearly insufficient to provide herd immunity,” the report’s authors said. “This cannot be achieved without accepting the collateral damage of many deaths in the susceptible population and overburdening of health systems. In this situation, social distance measures and efforts to identify and isolate new cases and their contacts are imperative for future epidemic control.”

I hope your test results turn out well all around.

As for football, what Division III and the Ivy League do is barely relevant to the big boys. With hundreds of millions of TV dollars on the line for each Power Five conference, the bar for not playing is going to be noticeably higher.

Covid-19 cases reach 12 million, globally. Sounds like a big number, but what it means is 99.8% of the population (7.8 billion) have NOT been diagnosed with it.

Rank State July 2019 Estimate
1 California 39,512,223
2 Texas 28,995,881
3 Florida 21,477,737

Now imagine an unchecked pandemic in the top 3 states.

Total COVID cases for each of those states and the percentage of their population who have yet to be infected:

1. California: 296,075 cases (99.25%)
2. Texas: 229,619 cases (99.21%)
3. Florida: 232,718 cases (98.92%)
