I was told by someone along time ago that the first thing to do during a crisis is to "take care of you number one". Because you can't help your family or loved ones if you are sick or hurt.

Nobody else got that message; because if tp sales are any indication it was everyone's priority to take care of their number two first.

They must feel like there is something in it for them or they wouldn't do it.

Best case that something is, as you mention, the simple ability to tell others how to live their lives. Worst case is corruption. Middle ground is a mix of those two wonderful traits.

No, they have chosen to step forward and declare themselves part of the political ruling class. Anything that happens to them as this epic clusterfuck spins out of control, they have coming.

My goodness....from your years of posting, I had no idea you were so cynical......

Any chance we can make the Reds honorary politicians if we are purging the government?

If it's such a shitty job, why do they stay doing it for 40 years, even after they've, quite dubiously, amassed millions and millions of dollars on an upper middle class income?

I've been pretty clear about excluding Congress and the federal government from my take. The worst regularly make it to the top because that's who we the people like to reward. The people you're talking about have essentially made the majors (how many CEOs and executives really add great value for what they make?). At the state level and local level most have a life more like a minor league ballplayer. They clearly do get an ego rush out of it though. I personally think they're insane for doing it, but they're wired differently.

The local Jewel-Osco stores in the Chicago area are limiting the periods of 7 am to 9 am each Tuesday and Thursday for seniors only.

All your toilet paper are belong to us!

Has any been restocked. I haven't seen any fresh supplies since the initial panic buying on Thursday. Supply chains aren't that inefficient, which tells me that it and other items are being held back to be rationed in the near future. Which is fine by me. We've seen how efficient the hallowed market was in allocating scarce resources in a time of crisis.

This. China is way ahead of US in this thing and it’s not like I’m reading about 1,000 deaths/day.

I’m not asking for sunshine but I do feel like we’re finally doing what it takes and we can manage this thing better than 18 months and million+ deaths.

Anyway, more positive news? (If it’s to be trusted)

China as both a state and a people were prepared to take steps that we simply are not. If we were, every single major city would be on full lockdown with National Guard on the streets already.

And BTW, half the ICU admissions in the US are for people under 65, so I think there might be some serious cracks in the Soylent Green let the olds die to save the economy philosophy.

Wife went to Kroger this morning and they were fully stocked on everything other than TP. Came home with 3 gallons of milk and a couple extra cases of water. Our tap water is awful. I'll start collecting rain water for the apocalypse before I'll drink from our tap.
