Here is a link to the haf length sample test before everyone starts calling this kid a moron lets see how many ace this whole test. And dont forget to read the rules in the beginning of how you have to take the test.

ODE - OGT Half-Length Practice Tests

I don't believe anybody has called the kid a "moron". As others have said, some people don't do standardized testing well. It's a complete different situation, your in a different room, you have to deal with time limits, the pressure (especially if you haven't passed it and your taking it over, that has to be a lot of pressure), etc.

But, I've taken the OGT....and I've seen kids who are lacking in the intelligence department pass every section their first time. But I'm with alot of other people on this....for a 3.4 student who has had 5 chances to pass the science section, it shouldn't have come to this.

* And to another poster, you are right about the "raise" issue, it's not that simple, but it does play a large part in whether or not you are retained. So it's not a raise issue, but a whether or not you keep your job issue.....and that's very true. If your kids don't pass the OGT at a level at which the state finds is expected, don't expect to have a job in that district for very long if you don't change it, and fast. Funds to the school from the government are in large part directly correlated with the OGT passing rates. (It's more complicated than that, but as we know....details are boring!)

UM's Turner has enrolled

Well....I have to think the test scores are back or will be any day now....anyone hearing any noise about whether Turner got the score he needed to get his HS diploma and enroll at UM?

Figured it was best to ask here...a bit off the beaten path.

wow, that's some rumor - a school with the academic reputation of michigan admitting a student without a high school diploma

I think the rumor goes that if he hits some other criteria then he can still get a diploma. I don't know how real that possibility is but I think it involves his aggregate OGT test scores, his GPA and perhaps some other requirements......

If it goes that way...imagine the crow that those MICHIGAN MEN will have to swallow....academic superiority goes right out the window...:tongue2:

like they wouldn't just come up with some other excuse. I'm sure it was the jealous Ohio teachers not wanting him to play for michigan.

According to their boards, Turner is in, but they are really worried about Gallon. He needed to increase his ACT by 1 point and just took the test for a final time.

I haven't heard a peep yet...

there are some rumblings that UM may be able to admit him without passing the OGTs, but that is merely rumor at this point.

Unless UM has a way to admit people without obtaining a high school diploma, I am not sure how they would do this.

He could graduate without passing one section, but he would have had to miss less than 30 days (roughly 5% days) of high school through four years while meeting a whole bunch of other requirements.

Yeah I have no idea how qualified he is for that option, it's just been mentioned in passing a few times... but more conjecture than assuring.

Those free board posts don't really count in my book

Gallon took his final ACT attempt (this school year) the same day RR said they had one kid that might not qualify (and they were talking about Gallon).

I have to think that this has been looked at and if he met all the add'l requirements then he would have his diploma already. Just an assumption on my part but the fact that he sat for the test again suggests to me that he doesn't hit all the criteria req'd to get his diploma w/o passing the entire OGT.

Almost positive that Ohio State's William Buford had to pass his OGTs through attendance, GPA, etc. because he did not pass all of his OGT sections. So, lets not get ahead of ourselves here...
