Now there is a real oxymoron.

I guess the philosophy is that it's better to graduate with a degree in "general studies" than to flunk out in particle physics. Not sure I disagree.

He may still get in..but I can't believe you still haven't learned your lesson about posting in absolutes with unvalidated 'inside info' when the reality is obvious: there is no inside info....it is a clearinghouse issue and you don't have a source that has a clue as to when and what the clearinghouse will decide.

By the way...interesting that getting through the NCAA clearinghouse is good enough to get into UM. That isn't the case at schools like OSU, PSU, ND or Miami (Fla) who have all seen recruits get through the NCAA only to not clear the school's own admissions bar.

I hate it for the kids that get stuck in the middle...but the lesson is: do what you need to do to get a HS diploma and give academics it's due focus if you want to go to college. Sounds cold...but to me it also sounds fair.

Via twitter, Rothstein claims that J.T. Turner is cleared academically. Haven't read anything on Witty yet. He has been really close with practices and keeping up with the latest on Michigan, so hoping this is true.

Witty, I watched his film and knowing his injury, you can see it. Now I want to see it.....I thought he was way underrated before and maizeman really reaffirmed what I already knew.....

btw, turner and witty add some much needed height to the cb position,esp if witty is cleared.....and would allow safety recruiting to take center stage....

He is right on Turner....and Evans and Helmuth too. To me it's good news all around...

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez says cornerback J.T. Turner has been academically cleared to play.

The highly touted freshman from Massillon, Ohio, is expected to practice with the Wolverines on Thursday.

Although I have no idea what Turner's situation is, I'd like to point out that clearinghouse issues are not always about admissions standards. A well-qualified individual can get held up in clearinghouse for a number of reasons. Sometimes it is things like getting coursework approved, not scores/grades.

Totally agree...the process is very unpredictable and inconsistent...which is why I grew tired of a certain UM fan telling me he had inside info on exactly when this would wrap up....there was/is just no good way to predict the clearing house's time lines.
