The Free Press article gives the impression that this is more like a schoolwork issue and less like a paperwork issue, but we'll soon find out together.

Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez said today that two incoming freshmen, defensive backs Adrian Witty and JT Turner, are still being evaluated by the NCAA Clearinghouse for their academic eligibility.

?We?ve still got a couple that are working through clearinghouse issues,? Rodriguez told WTKA-AM (1050). ?This just recently came up. Just about all of them were here for the summer with the exception of a couple guys and those two are still not resolved. We?re still waiting on Justin Turner to get some information in and hopefully that will be in before Sunday and within a week and the other one?s Adrian Witty, who?s got a test score we?re still waiting on. He?s kind of in limbo right now.

Still, Rodriguez remains hopeful both will be cleared to practice soon. He kept spots open for both on Michigan?s 105-man reporting roster, and both have stalls waiting in Michigan?s new locker room.

?I?m pretty optimistic and hopefully (Turner?s) will be quicker,? Rodriguez said. ?But wait and see.?

Wonder how the Witty's feel about that comment? :roll1:

The UM fans have always argued that their school was a cut above OSU and most of the rest of the country in regards to academics. And despite the Kinesiology program it was possible to fashion arguments - however convoluted - that supported their claim.

And as the school that brought you the Andy Katzenmoyer's summer schedule and the Reggie Germany 0.0 GPA it has not always been easy to throw stones.

It is now.

Between these two and Toussaint RR is making it clear whether he will rise to UM standards or lower UM to his.

RR - the gift that keeps on giving.

It was never an argument, and it's not only Kinesiology that is the problem. It's also General Studies. That major is full of football players. It's essentially a made up major. Hell, they didn't even try to hide the fact it's a phony major. Come on, naming it General Studies pretty much shows they weren't even trying to hide it. Although you will have the random non football player who for some reason thinks General Studies is a good major to get into (probably jock sniffers). About the only thing you can do is go into Law School after that, which is pretty much any major. I suppose if your heart is set on Law School and essentially want to take it easy in a fake major it's a good choice.

This is pretty much how it plays out when a Michigan football player gets injured (substitute Communications with General Studies)...

Interesting article about the situation.

They sneak them in under the lower Kinesiology admission standards and then switch them over to General Studies later on. 4 years later, bam, a phony degree from "The Harvard of the Midwest" of whatever the hell they try and call themselves. 78% of their 2004 football team were General Studies majors.

I though Harvard was the Michigan of the Northeast.
