it isn't official until he passes the NCAA clearinghouse like everyone else. However, they do expect him to be fine.

I don't normally get into the petty stuff, but isn't it odd that someone can go to college w/o a GED or a diploma when they are right out of high school?

This is RichRod's m*ch*g*n...same guy who took on a fellon armed robber and Noel Devine at wvu. I don't expect many kids will have trouble getting in up there if dick wants them. It's just awesome when the exact kind of stuff you tell some idiots is going to happen, starts happening.

He's enrolled but not taking summer classes still allowes him to practice with the team.

I don't see how he can pass the clearinghouse at this point. Anything is possible, I guess, though.

What Do I Need To Do?

Grade 12

  • [*]When taking the ACT or SAT, request test scores to be sent to the eligibility center (the code is "9999").
[*]Complete amateurism questionnaire and sign the final authorization signature online on or after April 1 if you are expecting to enroll in college in the fall semester. (If you are expecting to enroll for spring semester, sign the final authorization signature on or after October 1 of the year prior to enrollment.)
[*]Have your high school guidance counselor send a final transcript with proof of graduation to the eligibility center.
and from: ODE - Frequently Asked Questions about Ohio Graduation Tests
What happens to students who have met all of the curriculum requirements for graduation but do not pass the OGT before their intended date of graduation?
Students who have met all of the curriculum requirements for graduation but have not passed all required parts of the OGT before their intended date of graduation will not graduate with their classmates. School districts decide locally whether or not students may participate in graduation ceremonies.
Students may continue to take the OGT until they pass all required parts, which would then allow them to earn their diplomas. The first opportunity to take the test after their senior year would be in July during the summer administration of the OGT. Students should contact a school district well in advance of the test dates to learn of the requirements to sit for the test. Students who are eligible may test during any of the testing opportunities throughout the school year ? March, July and October. Click here for test dates.
There is also a bullet point in the pdf brochure from the clearinghouse:
https://web1.ncaa.org/eligibilitycenter/pdf/ec_tri-fold_4-18-08.pdf
Graduate "on time" from high school in eight
semesters (4 years). This is a requirement if you want
to participate in NCAA Division I athletics.
which, to me anyway, makes it seem that any Ohio kid that has to retake the OGT into the summer after his/her senior year would not pass the clearinghouse.
