Columbus Crew SC (2008, 2020, 2023 MLS Champions)

Building around Crew stadium won't happen unless that entire area goes through a facelift. I am intrigued by the $250,000 in improvements. Is the scoreboard being replaced? I'm still not a fan of the end of the field with the scoreboard, but time will tell.

I'm going to bet there will be chair-back seating all over the stadium sooner rather than later. Also, it will probably be Ohio Health Stadium or Scotts Lawn Stadium (maybe Safe Auto or something else) sooner as well.

Yeah, the only way the new owner would be able to develop that area is to threaten to move to California or Minnesota or something.

Where Columbus is at a disadvantage is, all the new stadiums are incorporating entertainment, retail and living into their new plans (look at D.C.'s plans and New York's). But Columbus was first, so obviously they didn't have the advantage of hindsight.

Discount tickets to Ohio club teams would be a start as well.

Shit, with the way that pitch looks every week, you can put Scotts on the stadium sign any day. I'd put Columbus' pitch up against anyone's in the MLS, New York's is pretty top notch.

The Columbus Higuain's shutout RBNY tonight 2-0. #33 netted a PK early in the second half, and added his second on a BRILLIANT chip over the keeper. Best goal I've seen in 3+ years for the Crew. Will post video tomorrow.

Too little, too late, unfortunately. Crew brass are talking like they could still make the playoffs with the coaching change. That's been dead for at least (going on) 3 weeks now.

That said, I'd love to see what Brian Bliss can do with this team. He's done very well as an integral part of our drafting and development of players. Not sure if it will translate to wins as a head coach, but very interested to see what he can do.

I read this and I hope Taylor Twellman is referring to the roof/awnings of stadiums such as Salt Lake and Red Bulls and not a "Roof" roof like you see in Europe (because that would cost a lot).

“I think Columbus needs to be pushed,” he said. “Their stadium needs to be upgraded. There needs to be a roof. Imagine Tuesday’s atmosphere with a little bit of roof. I’m telling you, it’s ten times louder."

I'd upgrade the seats to chairback, before anything. Then a new scoreboard or upgraded food/beverages.
