Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Well. the only good news that the Blue Jackets scored a 2nd goal is that I can get an Hawaiian pizza at Jet's Pizza tomorrow later today for 50% off.

Use code CBJ50 online.

You and me both! Thanks for the reminder.

The Jackets won in OT. Kent Johnson with the snipe. Columbus needed these points as much as Edmonton needed a loss, but it was still good to see them get a win.

They lost another top sixer officially. Nyquist done for the season. The injuries sustained this season are insane.

In more positive news, CBJ prospect Jordan Dumais is leading the QMJHL in points. He has 86 points in 41 games. Second in points has 77 in 47. He was a third rounder for the Jackets last year, looking like a potentially nice pickup.

Doubly sucks as Goose was playing well and was likely going to get a good return at the trade deadline.

With Voracek likely done for the reason, Werenski and Bean both done, Chinakov out for another month and Danforth out too, it's been an epidemic.
None of these injuries were the preventable kind either. Torn labrums, concussions, high ankle sprains. Crazy.

Well okay then?

buncha pending UFA’s trading spots, but what this amounts to is trading a decent goalie and defenseman, both positions that many contenders are in the market for, and essentially only getting a 1st back…and what will be a low one at that? They couldn’t do better than that? Kinda feels like Jarmo got his pockets picked…unless this is saying they’re now in on Chychrun and this is a precursor?

Getting a 1st and a 3rd for Gavrikov/Korpi is pretty good honestly.

The trade that was disappointing is the 5th rounder for Goose. I think he could have gotten more there.

This next draft is one of the deepest in decades. Like back to the mid-80s. 1st rounders, even late 1st rounders, are still golden.

The Kings made the decision to move the 37-year-old Jonathan Quick as they factored in the fact that he is bound to hit free agency by the end of the 2022-23 NHL season. The trade apparently is not sitting well with Quick.

“To say Jonathan Quick is unhappy with the trade, I’m told, is ‘an understatement,'” per Seravalli.

Quick is no longer the elite goalie that he used to be in the NHL. So far this season, he’s posted just an 11-13-4 record with a 3.5 GA/A and a .876 saves percentage across 31 appearances on the ice. In what turned out to be his last goaltending assignment in Kings uniform, Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on just seven shots faced in a 5-2 road loss to the New York Rangers last Sunday.

There was a time when Jonathan Quick was among the most feared netminders in the NHL, but his play has declined over the last few years.

Just sayin': Maybe Quick wil be so pissed off that he'll play really shitty and help the Jackets "tank".

1. Blue Jackets: 61 games, 46 points.
2. Ducks: 61 games 47 points.
3. Blackhawks: 60 games, 47 points.
4. Sharks: 61 games, 48 points.
